Thanks Star for bringing this to our attention.

It would be against the Geneva convention to treat prisoners of war the way these people are being treated. It makes my blood boil.

THANK YOU STARR! for supporting this action

Is this for real?
It is the most frightening horrifying thing. It made me cry.
Thanks for drawing my attention to it.

Mother of a child with behaviour that could easily get him into a place like that!

star,am do not mind doing it at all,am want to do as much as am can.
am was physically abused and roughly restrained by teachers from the late eighties onwards-am do not want others going through the same thing, especially in this century-where's the understanding, the education?

they are treating all developmental disability related behaviors as being done on purpose and for being bad,but most behaviors are caused by reaction to what is going on around the person, the environment, their current physical/mental state, sensory setoffs etc, they are not being nasty, some do love attention and will behave in a way that gets them it,
but that is not a rule to apply to all behavior.

Done. Here is the main text:

According to reports published in 2006 and 2007, this center punishes autistic children for unapproved behavior by electric shocks above the limit approved by the FDA. If the children do not show unapproved behavior, they are bullied into it by the staff, then punished. There is no proper monitoring of punishments or the lingering results. This center is a torture center for defenseless children and needs to be shut down. If you do not call for the end of this center, please do not support it in any way.

I added an individual introduction for each one and closed by wishing them a good visit to Boston. Here's keeping the fingers crossed.

That's an idea. Why not follow up with an email to our local TV news departments? Take this idea to any other forums you are on and let's see how much support it gets.

Starr, you think like an Aspie! :D

Thanks! That's a great compliment! :D

Good idea MysteryFan3, about emailing local TV news stations to cover the event. Living in the UK I haven't got a clue who to contact but if anyone from the US can give me the name of the TV station(s)? which would cover it, I will gladly email them. Let's all email them!

Star, I just emailed the news departments at CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox and asked:

"Why hasn't more been said about the overuse of electric shock punishments on children at the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center in Massachusetts?"

I'm not including links to the news departments, in case I got them wrong. I seem to do that. I found them on Search.com using all of: news email and at least one of: cbs nbc abc fox. If anyone outside the US wants to bring a brighter spotlight on this evil, email your networks: CBC, BBC, NHK, ABC (Australia), etc. Hell, email Al Jazeera. Evil hates being noticed.

Ok, I emailed the local TV news departments. Now, let's see what happens. I guess I went Aspie on it, didn't I?

See what you started? :D

Star, I agree with your outrage. But I wonder what good Tony Atwood or Carol Gray will be able to do in closing Rotenberg. I'm not saying we shouldn't do something (I, myself, have suggested the idea to the Oprah Show since she's a great children's advocate).

But is AANE or Tony Atwood and Carol Gray really in a position to do something? I am wondering if you know something we don't, that is.

Perhaps there might be a better organization(s) or person (people) who are in a greater position of power to affect change?

Tony Attwood and Carol Gray make a lot of profit from Autism and Aspergers and they will be in Boston on September 28 and 29. I want them to know about it and participate in the action

I live in the UK and unable to make my NVDA (non violent direct action) presence in USA.

I support the campaigns to close the Judge Rotenberg Educational Center, and I will see what I can do within legal limits to assist this campaign from here in England.

One thing to do is to find out which autism and other organizations are campaigning towards JREC closure.
