Gun Licenses [split from "Oh no"]
Guns don't kill people. Blood loss and organ trauma kills people.
People will always find a way to kill people, guns, or no guns.
No offense, but what makes no sense to me is how you can think that everyone is given a gun. The people who have them have either bought them, inherited them, or received them as gifts from friends. There are a lot of people that do not have guns.
Most people who have guns are law abiding citizens exercising their rights under our laws to own guns. Not all guns are for self defense, some are for recreation, or sport (hunting, etc..). If my next door neighbor has a gun, I am not even aware of it, nor do I care (unless they are a total moron and start shooting it off in their yard, or something). In the wrong hands, guns can hurt, or kill, but why should the majority of gun owners who obey the laws be forced to lose their rights because of a small minority of morons that have no respect for others?
As far as the child finding the gun scenario, that is very rare. Most gun owners are responsible if they have children. There was an incident where a child got his father's gun and shot a friend accidentally. His father was a police officer. These types of incidents are caused by the irresponsibility of the parent and not the guns themselves. The cop lost his job. Should guns be taken away from all cops because one cop did not think? Certainly not.
If someone kicked in your door with the intent of doing harm to someone in the house that you care about and you had a gun at your disposal, you can be certain that you would be glad you were protected by laws that allow you to own it.

Of course I know that these guns are not "given" to the people. I only use this word because I don´t want my post to be any longer to explain how they did get all these guns.
These guns are bought once or obtained in an other way and are now in the houses of the people. Most people will be responsible and a little percentage will not be responsible.
It is only a matter of statistics that a certain percentage of these gun will be used and hurt innocent people (and of course not innocent people, where they were bought for).
Of course I would use a gun if I had one and somebody kicked my door, but this also is a not very common scenario. I have no gun and the rest of the people in my street probably also have no gun and until now nobody has kicked my door.
When I say it is difficult to obtain a gun in my country, then I mean for the normal civilians (and thus also for the criminals).
Of course cops need to keep their guns because it is their job to protect the civilians.
But why not just look at the statistics and compare the average number of people killed by a gun per 1000 civilians in a land where everybody (who has the money) can obtain a gun to the average per 1000 civilians in a country where only the cops can obtain a gun?
You have a good point here.
Unfortunately the situation in Europe isn´t getting better either. After the war in Yougaslavia a lot of weapons have come in our direction (and the criminals using them).
Luckily criminals also have the habit of killing each other.
I just wanted to point out that other viewpoints about possessing guns are equally well possible.
/me looks boggled...
If you say machine gun, I hope you do not mean an AK 47 or similar gun. THOSE ARE NOT MACHINE GUNS. THEY ARE ASSAULT RIFLES. MACHINE GUNS INCLUDE BREN GUNS AND CHAIN GUNS. THEY ARE GENERALLY FED BY BELTS OF AMMUNITION AND HAVE FAR HIGHER RATES OF FIRE.
Meanwhile, I would like an assault rifle.
Problem: British government is a bunch of dumbass idiots. Have they not realised that gun crime has actually increased since they brought in bills to restrict firearms? And it is not the guns that are causing the problem: it is the change in society. Chav and rap culture are causing the increase in gun crime. They are the ones who use replica guns to rob people. Not proper gun owners. I admit, I have been a bit irresponisble with my BB gun and have shot friends and my sister. But I have stopped from doing so and I used my weaker BB gun (that could never pierce skin) against people. It hardly hurts, and so is not that dangerous. I would never rob anywhere with my guns, as it would be stupid. I mainly use my guns for target shooting in a controlled environment with proper protection against tin cans. I am becoming far more responsible.

If you have a Federal Firearms License in the US, you can have belt-fed machine guns, automatic assault rifes, or automatic handguns.
It's the criminals that are the problem. Almost all of them already have criminal records before they are old enough to own a gun. If politicians cracked down on criminals and relaxed gun laws instead of the other way around, crime would decrease; just like it has always been in Switzerland or even pre-1900 England where nobody gave a second thought to someone carrying a concealed pistol.

True... also crack down on chav and rap culture. I want an assault rifle. Preferably a M4 assault rifle. That gun is soo awesome. Good rate of fire, accurate and kind of powerful. But I would prefer a combat shotgun. Oh man would that be good.

That is soo awesome. If I can get the money to help you get it, can I come over and see it. That shotgun looks soo kickass. You should have it as your avatar. Sometimes I wish I could live in the US due to the gun laws.

They shouldn´t do that. This is a sort of lying about their possibilities to rob. Why not use real guns
I am glad to hear that.
How´s your sister doing

I stopped shooting her around a year ago.

This sounds real cool.
I´ve an even better idea:
An avatar of a machine-gun that keeps rattling. It has to have moving parts. Otherwise I don´t like it.
Now that would be awesome.

I'll have the money in a month or two. I'll just have to make sure to save some money for some watermelons, a pumpkin, a couple 5lb bags of flour, and some extra buckshot.
If you want and your friends want to shoot each other with BB guns, get airsoft guns.
If I ever meet you, I'd be happy to take you shooting.[/quote]
Yeah, that's part of it.
My Grandmother had an interesting observation about that when I visited her today. Last Christmas, she had trouble trying to get all of the guys to come to dinner. When she went to show the guys her new shotgun, all of the guys followed were right behind her. Today, she was thinking out loud about possibly buying all of the guys a gun this Christmas.
I plan on posting a picture of me with it. It will probably just be a pic of me and the unmodified shotgun at first, and then take a new pic after I have installed some tactical modiciations.
As for moving to the US, there are other things to consider such as your family ties, would you require health insurance (the government doesn't provide it), and where would you work. If you want relaxed gun laws, then maybe consider starting a faction within a popular political party to change the gun laws?
