Honest view of Asperger
To fail, you must first try. If it is not perfect, try again, ten re-writes of my book were all failuers, number 11 is fairly good.
The only true failure comes from not trying, or giving up when it is not perfect the first time every time. That is not being a failure, but chosing failure.
A man comes into a club, he is offered a cigar, No, tried it once, didn't like it. Next he is offered a drink, No, tried it once didn't like it, I just came here to meet my son, to which the man who offered the cigar and drink says, Only child?
Yeah, but what I have posted is a link to slaughter that happens in daily basis on 100+ kosher slaughter facilities in USA. So since it is nothign unusual why not post it? I mean by not posting it it won't go away.
This just pisses me off. This thread is just a cover for your real reason for posting - to get us to look at vegetarian propaganda. There is something seriously wrong with a group who feels the need to barrage others with guilt into conforming to their beliefs/practices.
Thank you Alex for removing this crap.

Don't assume so much. I am not vegitarian. I ran on that video by accident a few days ago and I wanted to share my reaction to it. None of it even entered my mind until I ran on that video.

I don't want to give up. I may have those times when I just want to dig a hole and crawl into it but I just don't want to stay there.
I'm trying to learn how to make quirks work for you instead of against you. When I have a success story, I'll share but until then, if life is kicking your butt, come up with alternative methods if you can. I think this whole comformity scheme is just so that people around us can feel better about themselves. They are surrounded by the comfort of familiarity. Are you?
Because I refuse to give up and live down to peoples' low expectations that they hold for me.

[p]Step 1: identify the problem. What can't you do that you really wish you could?[/p]
[p]Step 2: Identify why Asperger's causes the problem. Do not rely on what the reports on AS say we have trouble with. instead of taking "Aspies can't pick up social cues" as given, take "Aspies have low nonverbal IQ as given. [/p]
[p]Step 3: Find some way of breaking the chain. Figure out how you can circumvent the problem. Ths is quite easy once you have answered the question "Exactly how does Asperger's cause this problem?"[/p]
[p]Step 4: Execute solution. You know what to do now. Get up and do it. It won't be fun 100% of the time, but in the long run the effects will be positive.
[p]You would be amazed at how well this works, and anyone who does this for three years and still considers his- or herself a failure would probably be a failure as an NT as well.[/p]
Just to clarify the point of the post, basically here is an analogy I wanted to make: slaughtered animals PRETEND that they are still alive and do their best not to die. Likewise some aspies PRETEND to be NT and do their best to stay NT. Now slaughtered animals can try and walk like normal for half a minute; likewise aspies can try and be NT for 30 seconds. Then slaughtered animals eventually fail to keep walking and eventually die. Likewise aspies eventually fail to hide their Asperger.
Now, without a video you won't know it. I for one was assuming animlas die right away; but now after watching the video I seen it takes few minutes for them to die, and THE FACT that it takes few minutes for them to die AND how they are able to "twist around" to pretend not to, is the point I wanted to make in this post that relates to how aspies pretend to be NT-s.
Fact: Many people with AS or autism are highly talented.
I concede and fully admit that I may not be as capable as everyone else at socializing or communicating well with other people. I used to believe these people were unimportant, and being lonely never concerned me. However, getting used to dealing with them and solving it like a math problem doesn't mean I have to concede to defeat or failure.

But lets sit back and realize we are not the only ones who do that. I have a video of a bunch of animals, all of which are still alive, and they all successfully move around and occasionally you will find them finding more comfortable nitches for themselves. Even though they are supposed to be dying, what you will find is that occasionally they "get better" and start walking like normal for a while. So, they too, think they are making progress in struggling against their illness. So what is your opinion? Will they stay alive? (see the video over here )
So, don't you think we are similar to these animals? Just like they are twisting around and from time to time finding comfortable nitches, so do we in society. So why not just be honest and say we are a failure and just don't want to admit it.
Well.........NO.
But I probably would think that way if I had taken a lot of drugs or was clinically insane.
Define failure. Failure at what? I believe that every person on this earth has purpose if giuded in the right direction. I for one do not appreciate comparing the way my sons (and most likely mine) brain works to slaughtered, maimed animals. That kind of attitude does nothing to further disability rights. It hinders it. If society were more accommodating then things wouldn't feel so negative. The only way that's gonna happen is if those with autism stand up, and advocate, and educate. Contemplating about how your life is like dying animals, and how things will never be the way you want them isn't gonna get you anywhere.
does this mean that since i have AS i am a failure as a human being? i ain't perfect, that trues but nobody is.
i do feel like i am a failure sometimes because of the problems that i have, but i can only do my best . what does success means anyhows?
I feel success is what u think, what ever goals u choose to go for? I want to wish every ones all the best with their current attempts at success.
