i use to be an extremely negative person, negativity begets negativity i think plus it makes you grumpy and mean to people, slowly but shurly i am learning how to deal with negative thoughts so i dont ruin someone elses life. :)

I always focus on the positive things... unless there's something bad going on, that's affecting me directly... Like if I'm really tired

I'm mostly a half-empty guy. I've long been told by my mother "stop being so negative!"

As of right now I believe Im somewhere in the middle. I know there isnt that much of a reason to be positive about very much, but Im still making a conscious effort to make a change to that, as hopeless as I might seem. During the most negative portion of my life, which was more than half of it, all I could see was negativity, as it was the only force present in my life. I became negativity, I confused total evil with what is "right", literally a monster.. I am lucky I did not believe I was above the law, as I wouldnt be on WP talking about it today. Or have any freedom for the rest of my life for sure. Im also very lucky that I was able to eventually snap out of it, and find the positive aspect of life. There isnt much of it for me, but Im still a very different person than I used to be, and for that I am glad.

I think more positively than I think. I can sound really negative but the issues I grumble about usually is just me being an Aspie. I'm frustrated, irritated and annoyed most of the time over nothing, but my understanding is most Aspies are like that. So I grumble just to grumble usually over minor things. Then when someone tells me I need to be positive, that irritates me because I know deep down I'm being positive, on the surface I'm grumbling. Makes me want to say, "I'm not being negative, I'm just being an ass-pee." I don't dare say that though so I just tell them "I'm not being negative, I'm just complaining." Then they look at me like I'm crazy and then I seem to forget about what it is I was grumbling about, it all seems minor, until the next day.

welp yah know, its kindof like drinking beer. the key to it is to not let the circumstance or activity own your life. you are the master of it, and if you know how to control it you wont have any problems, now this is alot easier said than done but practice does make perfect. once you learn that feeling like sh-t all the time really does suck you will want to stay as far away from negativity as possible. and as a by product you will treet not only yourself better, but others awell.

richard funfact- i think its already beed scientifically proven that if your constinly walking around with a negative attitude and "woah is me, i never walk on the sunny side of the street" it causes all kinds of mental and physical health problems. so if you want to feel better and be healthier a chipper attitude will do you right :)

It depends.... did somebody drink the other half? Was the glass ever filled up to almost the top to start with? If somebody drank the other half, or if it spilled on the floor or something, then it is half empty... easy solution-fill it up the rest of the way if you want to drink it all, lol. Otherwise, if it started at half way, then I suppose it would be half full considering something was only put into it rather than taken out. Either way, I don't know why anyone would leave half of a glass of water sitting around their house just to ask questions about it :P But that's just me.

Ok. This is my first post here ever; but I felt compelled to give my take on the glass. It's neither half full nor half empty. In fact it's entirely full! Half of it is full of water. The other half is full of air. ;)

I focus on the negative as it's a reflex from past experiences, I'm only trying to prevent pain by being prepared.. the funny thing is this creates pain in itself. When I force myself to 'look at the bright side' it feels false, I still try though. I guess I bounce back & forth hoping to find my place.

I am an extemely negative thinker. I always focus on the bad side of things. My saying goes, "Everything goes for the worst!" The reason why I am a negative person is because my saying is usually true.

Unfortunately, after years of trying to remain optomistic and having experienced no change, I tend to see things in a negative light :(

Another pessimist here.

I just don't understand how people who are optimists cope!

I always prefer to think of the worst-case scenario and deal with it; then when it doesn't happen it is a pleasant surprise.

If I was expecting something to turn out well, & then it didn't, it would make me really upset. So not only would I have to deal with the bad stuff, but with my disappointment etc as well.

By doing things my way, I can get all the worrying out of the way before I actually have to deal with the reality of the situation.

I tried the optimist route a few years ago and was perpetually disappointed. Now when I expect things to go wrong, there is seldom disappointment.
