She's spinning counterclockwise; when her extended foot swings from right to left, you can see its reflection on the floor below, which indicates that it is farther away from you at this point. As the leg swings back from left to right, the reflection disappears below the frame, showing that the foot is closer at this time.

If you ignore that small context (I think this illusion would be better without the reflection), she can spin either way (or both at the same time).

As for why she'd naked, it looks like someone posed a stock Poser model, and colored it matte black. Not a whole lot of fancy stuff to get the effect.

Cool illusion...

Did you notice that when she's spinning clockwise, her right arm is bent and her right leg is up... when she's spinning couter-clockwise, her left arm is bent and her left leg is up.

I'd like to turn my mother into a spinning lady.

She appeared to be going one way, one second and than the other way, the next second.

I can make it spin it any direction and then speed up slow down stop go in other direction.
You could say that i am in complete control of this spinning situation

I could only see it going clockwise first of all, and I didn't wait long enough and just voted that, but then just now, I watched it and saw it go counter-clockwise!

She can spin any direction she wants as long as it is in my direction.

Do I need something activated for this, like animations as she isn't moving for me at all. Totally static.

She spins counter-clockwise for me. But it doesn't make much sense, where are you looking at her from... from the top it's counter-clockwise... from the bottom it'd be clockwise.

I didn't notice any switch, the animation appears fairly static.

I don't even see the problem, or how it could even be clockwise... I can't see those magic eye things either...

I'm confused... :?:

It took me forever to see it switch directions, and takes forever for it to switch back, lol. But at first I saw it counter-clockwise as well. I'd say I watched it for a good 5 minutes before it switched for me. Thank God I don't mind watching things spin, or that would have made me extremely impatient :P

When it does switch, is it really your mind adjusting it? Or does the actual image change. Her head leans to the right when going clockwise, then to the left when going counter clockwise it seems.

I found that I can get it to switch by watching the shadow of her foot. I imagine the shadow passing in front or behind to get the spin to change. I think the disappearing foot shadow helps.

Ah, got it to switch. :D

It does take a very long time, much longer than I was expecting.

Now it's always clockwise... I want counter-clockwise back... she looked better that way... :?

:P

Makes me very curious as to what's really going on...

Which direction is she spinning for you?

For me it is always clockwise.

Just curious, but what is the chance you found this on the neurologica blog? If so, you are an instant friend, heh.

Seriously though, I see it as clockwise, and have been so far unable to view it as anticlockwise. I have tried. Actually, I have tried for hours.
