Just for the record, boys are capable of having erections even while still in the womb. I didn't know that this happened before puberty until I started teaching preschool and had to help kids with their potty training. Then later when I worked with infants I saw the same thing. It startled me the first time I saw it and I thought that something was maybe medically wrong with the child but I asked my boss about it and she just laughed and told me it was normal. Male babies and toddlers all wake up from nap with erections now and then. Some more than others. (As adults do, I guess?)

It's pretty normal for toddlers and preschoolers to take an interest in a small amount of self-stimulation as well, though older generations tend to react with shock and suspect child abuse. With a disregard for (or obliviousness to) social norms and taboos, I suppose that an AS child might engage in this behavior more openly or compulsively and be more difficult to redirect toward being more private and sanitary about it.

It made me laugh when I wrote it.

When I was pregnant, one of my girl friends was pregnant at the same time, also expecting a boy. One day when we were at work, she got this funny look on her face. I said, "Robin, what's up?"

She turned to me and replied, "Gwen.... do you ever think... about how we're walking around with little weewees inside of us. This is seriously disturbing."

Consider that revenge for what you said about my ears in the roommate thread.

As for when I was interested in girls, I KNOW it was before 6, and I am pretty sure it was before 5. I can't remember a time I wasn't. I ALSO know I had erections before I was 4. BTW I DID get a book on sex before I was 5, but don't ever remember being surprised that I could have an erection, etc... Heck, when I was young, I had to wait to urinate, because I had an erection that seemed to last forever! I wish I could say that today. Today, if I don't have stimulation or think about it, it can dissipate FAR quicker.

I wonder what I would have thought if I even CONSIDERED I would be where I am. 8(

BTW Richard... I don't know what to make of your statement. NOPE! I can walk and, though I am heavy, I am NOT as heavy as that jerk. I imagine we are different in almost every way.

WOW! You really thought there was a problem? Would you have called for an ambulance, or consulted a doctor?

And YEP! If a male thinks about some things, manages to mentally control those muscles, or has a certain hormonal balance, he'll get an erection. The last one is most often likely to happen in the early morning. I will tell you one thing, at least with me, an erection doesn't mean that you HAVE to have sex.

BTW I have seen evidence that a lot of these things work in a similar way with females. It probably just isn't as apparent.

I started self stimulating pretty early I recall and would lie in bed doing stuff with my cuddly toys... I had an elephant cuddly toy.
I have always been bothered that I developed in that area so young.

I've known a couple of aspie women who had similar childhood experiences. One got some of her first social skills training when her parents had to teach her that it was not acceptable to hump her teddy bear in the living room (age 2 or so). Another had to be banned from those little merry go round rides because she was obviously enjoying them WAY too much.

But I haven't heard anything from male aspies to make me think that they tend to be so sexually precocious.

I started watching porn when I was at least 6, and didn't stop. I couldn't "fully enjoy" it however until I was about 11. I think I was like extra horny when I was young because I . . . well theres really no comfortable way for me to finish that sentence, so I'll leave it to the imagination.

i would like to clarify a bit though , i do realize he is young, but like i said i want to prepare myself with the knowledge of potential problems in this area as i am more unfamiliar with it, i would like to give myself a head start.
Because i am new to this i was wondering if his penis issues could be a self stimming behavior that would have to be closely monitored so he didn't whip it out in front of his class at school or something. and because i am not a male, i don't know how much of what behavior is typical.
i do know men and their penis have a special realtionship, i just wondered if it shouldn't be slowing down a bit from the initial discovery period and become less overt.
i appreciate the bit on having to be extrs sure to teach him that it's not acceptable in public.

I have two ASD sons ages 3, and 5. They both touch themselves all the time. I am constantly reminding my 5 yr old to let go of his penis. He holds it the most when he's nervous, so when he's trying to talk to someone you can guess what he's doing. It can be embarrassing. My youngest is severely autistic, and is always rubbing his genital area. Everyone says it's a stim. I've read threads on parenting ASD kids boards about this subject, so it's not uncommon. I just redirect him to his room very nonchalantly. I'm hoping that he learns to his thing in private someday soon. Last year he was even doing it in his class picture.

I don't know if you could say it is a special relationship. It isn't like adults want to do it all the time, etc... You DO have to make it clear it isn't publicly accepted. Apparently, that would be just as true if he was NT.

Personally, I though you are over estimating its link to AS.

I think this is nonsense. Not people’s experiences, they are always relevant, but the notion that people with Asperger's don't have the range of sexuality that NT's have.

I have memory problems but I am pretty sure I was pretty ambivalent to sex until around 12, then after that it started to kick in. Sure I might of put my had down there before then.

One thing that is interesting is although I can't remember anything before the age of 7-8 I do seem to remember one thing. I'm not sure how but it came back to me. I never told anyone about this before, not one but I might as well. Basically I was a toddler maybe 4-5 and I was either going to or from nursery/kindergarten a was in a car with a girl. I know it could of only been one person because she would have been my age and was also and embassy child. Anyway she showed me her 'front bottom'. It was both perfectly innocent with both of us. It looked interesting, I recall. She explained that her font bottom was for weeing and her bottom was for pooing or something like that.


Anyways...
