Regarding ASPAR again, I just got CAP back up (although not the email address yet, still working on that).

The subdomain may take awhile to work, so for now it's at http://www.autistics.org/cap/

Eventually it will be at http://cap.autistics.org/ and http://cap.autistics.us/

I have looked at a few things on that site and am not as profoundly affected by it as the other one. I guess one reason is that I KNOW I would not be able to give a child, or children the life that I would want them to have. A baby crying at certain times would just mke me crazy, not to mention the reactions I get when I see an infant eating. I know that as my kid(s) got older then I would be more tollerant, but I also know that I would try to get them to only do things that I am interested in.

That was a little depressing to read on curosry glance, as I was thinking, "I'd really suck as a mother." However, I kind of forget to add two little words: "Right now." I'm 19. I can't have kids accidentally (physically can't) and if I ever want to have kids, I can wait till I'm mature enough to handle it. That might seem impossible now, but living on my own and going to college seemed impossible when I wasn't doing that either. Someday, maybe I'll have my shtuff together well enough. Which is not to say everyone, AS or not, can, and not to say I'm sure I'll be able to someday. But I think that some Aspies/Auties could make good parents, and some couldn't; the same with NTs, the same with everyone. Some human beings, regardless of their diagnoses, really can't handle having kids. It's a pretty important thing to know about yourself either way, and it's somethign that can change and go either way for some people. *shrug*

I know alot of physically and mentally healthy NTs that should be forcibly sterilized and I have known other parents who have various problems and do a great job of parenting because they recognize what they have to work extra hard at and do it.

To troll or not to troll, that is the question :-)

I'd say DON'T troll, if you get them riled you won't get their natural responses. Just read and see whats going on.

I'm of two minds, I understand their frustrations, my ex and I talk a LOT. But I'm really angry they think we do this on purpouse.

Like a life of dysfunction is just a day at the amusement park, maybe for some guy who refuses to admit he has a problem. But we are not ALL like that!

I've spent a lot of my adult life trying to understand what people do. And I'm learning the things I need slowly.

The idea that they put forth that we can't really learn and don't care at all, is just buck passing, another excuse not to try.

I don't have kids because I decided that I was not responsible enough to manage the task. I could see myself getting to work, slapping my forehead and saying, "The baby!"

It seems more and more likely that my parents had aspergers traits. However, my mother has incredible negotiating skills and I think social skills as well.

My father simply wasn't there, even when he was there. He spent all his time in the basement tinkering with electronics. Definitely aspergery, if not diagnosable.

I don't regret my parents at all. There was some abuse but they didn't know it was that. I did know that they cared about me. I had some angst as a teen but never the degree of rage I see on these sites. I am afraid I can't identify with that level of hurt. Part of the reason is that I see no benefit in holding onto such pain. The other part is that I likely don't experience the depth of emotion these people have to deal with. It sounds terrible, and by their responses on the website, quite disabling.

I really have to think about the fact that I feel some benefit from not having so intense emotions. Are all NTs this way, or just the hurt ones? The ones with aspergery parents who are not going on these websites, what did they do?

I think your are right: trolling would not be a constructive and efficient behavior. But it is above my force to read their posts. So I'd better ignore them, as they make vanish all the positive feelings I get when browsing the WP pages. I was not sure, but it seems that you won't necesseraly get more understanding from people around you by telling them you are an aspie.

Same here. Not everyone here is angst-ridden. I am quite frusterated, yes, but I was never bullied physically so no big deal.
