Centrelink (our Social Security) recognises Asperger's as a disability and we receive extra financial support.

Also, the cost of attending a Psychologist is heavily subsidised by Medicare.

I never knew Medicare subsidised Psychologists! :o They may do it on a certain basis I suppose (ie. if you're diagnosed with something like AS)
Private Health Insurance costs roughly $80/month for a single, healthy person in Australia and we're also entitled to tax relief if we have a health insurance policy.
The PBS (Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme) comes in handy too. I was entitled to a huge discount on my Cipramil & Zoloft because I was receiving a Centrelink benefit AND had a Centrelink Healthcare Card. I paid less than $4.00 per prescription 8O

Hah, I actually didn't know that Centrelink (in QLD anyway) recognised it as a 'disability' and gave support for it. Over the years I've refused to have anything to do with Centrelink because of all the grief they've given the NT members of my family already, but perhaps I ought to look into it.

Doubtful that you'll get a disability payment, but if you do a Newstart Allowance, you may have to look for less jobs a fortnight.

I get a disability pension, it's for a number of conditions including asperger's. It was absolute torture applying for it. Took about a year. Dunno if there's a diagnostic person in Hobart, I did it in Sydney.
