Yeah, I like to cook. I sometimes follow recipes, but I've tried to improvise a little too. I see improvising as a way to overcome that rigidity that can make a person with Asperger's syndrome difficult to others.

I LOVE cooking! I guess you could say that's one of my obsessions. I do have a problem with not following a recipe though. If it says it's in there, it's going in there. My partner hates black olives and I know that. I still put them in and tell him "they're in the recipe".

I like cooking, but I only cook using recipes which are carefully laid out, with all the measurements and times clearly stated (I hate it when it says "a pinch" or "to taste"). I also find that I have difficulty with the prep- it always takes me about 5X as long as the writer estimated for me to get everything ready! I swear those prep times are complete fictions. So anyway, who else likes to cook, and what is your particular style? I would guess that Aspies are not the type to "wing it" in general.

Oh, yeah, I love cooking. Once you have the basics down well, recipes are only guidelines. You can be somewhat creative with the ingredients and it changes the finished product quite nicely, sometimes. The more you do it, the shorter the prep time - unless you're tackling something really complex, like a 5 course meal from scratch. That's gonna take a while no matter what you do! :D

The more you try, the more you'll learn. Stir fry can be turned, by changing the sauce, into a nice topping for noodles....

I like cooking!

I learn new recipes from my mom. If I wanna try something new, I follow recipes. And I need to practice one thing many times.

I want to live alone so I can cook freely and not worry about reactions. Until then, I cook only very basic things.

I recently made meringue cookies some with mini chocolate morsels that I called blackheads and I made the Italian Flag aka Rainbow cookie batter but I made cupcakes without the food coloring and cookies with the batter. It was my first time and I didn't prepare the ganache or the jam. Next time I will follow the recipe properly. Today I made stuffed shells to use up the frozen spinach and the ricotta that purchased far too long ago. It was the first time for me and I used the mini scoop to fill the shells. That part was fun. I went easy on the red sauce though since I don't like too it too strong.

I love to cook. I like to recreate meals I have had out and really love authentic/exotic meals...but when I do cook, I make the worst mess! Always dropping things, spilling things, etc.

I can follow a recipe and make small modifications, but generally just wing it.

I am THE Iron Chef

I don't like cooking, I love it.

I don't know if there is anything wrong with me but I can not follow recipes. They never look like in the picture, they never taste like in my memory.

I am not very musical, I can never recognize tunes or rhythms.

I am not very visual, even if some images leave a strong impression on me.

But I can play with tastes and smells. Sometimes the result pleased me, sometimes I think that it should be banned (but I never do, because I don't like waste).

Some people don't see it as a form of artistic expression, but I do.

I am cooking now and the smell is getting me hungry.

I really like cooking. But I don't do it all the time because I blow a fuse with the organisation with my executive dysfunction.

I do like the intricate stuff. My favourite chef is Garry Rhodes. I'm done many of his recipes.

When I had no friends I used to do various recipes as best I can. It would normally be a meal for 3-4 people. I would plate up exactly the same as if I was serving guests. Then I would eat it all myself.

Now that I have some friends I tried cooking then my first meal for friends for the day before new year's eve (I had brought salads to picnics before this). Because I was doing some intricate stuff I spent a couple days preparing, then on the day I was always in the kitchen so I barely got to see them, and only the starter was really a success.

So now I try to do more simple easy going stuff. I either get it all done beforehand or get my friend to help me. She says 'Yes Chef' and everything. :D

I'm not really a good cook. My cooking is primarily heating things up in the microwave! I can do easy things like boil water, maybe make eggs, heat up things on the stove and heat can stuff but that's about it at the moment.

I never really learned the proper techniques.

I've loved cooking since I was twelve. At that time, my mother bought a huge encyclopedic cook book, and I had lots of fun trying recipes out of it. I recently found a copy of that same cookbook, and did that bring back memories! :)

I may wing it when it comes to the dish itself, but the ingredients do not vary very much. I do not like cook books and magazines for the mere fact that the dish never comes out exactly like the pictures.

Quote:
Most cooking is rather simple once you learn the effects of heat on various ingredients. The main problem is to learn the limits of variation and they are usually rather wide. Then it is fun to experiment and try different variations. Baking is rather rigid as a small variation in heat or ingredients can cause a wide variation in results but once the basics are mastered then the limits of variation can be explored with interesting results. The main thing is not to be afraid to experiment. If something turns out badly, most ingredients are not all that expensive. Throw it out or feed it to the birds and try again.

Yeah the main reason I stick to ingrediens i know is that i dont take the unpredictability of how they will cook well or how they taste together well.

I love to cook and have been doing it since I was 7. Baking is my favorite part.

I like to cook, I'll use recipes or make stuff up as I go, I have made some really nasty and some really good things through experimentation.

I love to cook, often I wing it or I'll make something that doesn't really have exact measurements, just adding things to taste.
