No one worships me, but I worship a wonderful God. I think you ought to change the wording of the title.

The curious want to know your god of choice. Lately, I've been partial to the Greco-Roman goddess Venus/Aphrodite.

Ah, Aphrodite. She's quite beautiful. I'm Catholic, so I worship the Christian God. I'm very happy that you decided to have a civil discussion instead of attack me. :)

oh, my no, no attack here, either! The Virgin Mary has a rich and highly esteemed legacy not only in the Christian pantheon but in her tradition of revered mothers and virgins in the ages before her.

Many people have called me a god.
I am a very kind god and generous god.
I give all and ask nothing in return from my followers but their loyalty.
If they break this sacred honor and betray me, I will become a vengeful god!

Worship in connection and context to people carries with it a very distinct vibe of fetish. And attached to that fetish you just know that there's just one sick puppy tied in pathos and in need of a fix.

Worship in connection and context to some vague authority figure located in the sky that can be manipulated by promises of behaviour modification to alter the course of natural events implies they are trying to make up for the inadequacies of that authority figure.

But then that is only my opinion.

Well thanks for sharing :) And here's mine - Man is born and dies. Transient and fallible. Fickle and vulnerable. Finite and physical. There isn't even anything the Creator can be likened to. Our senses can't comprehend infinity and nothingness and everythingness. And to even begin to know at this stage of our development would probably blow our fuses and mark the end of the world as we know it. The issue most people have a hard time with is seeing perfection in Creation, if they did, all doubt would disappear.

I have a weird problem, sometimes people either tell me I am a great inspiration to them, or that I am the most interesting or cool person I have ever met. I am not sure if they are being sarcastic or not, but it happens a lot. Sometimes complete strangers will say 'Hello,' to me and they will say that I am a very cool person and that they like me. I don't know how to make left or right of this phenomena. The other day an acquaintance of mine walked into me and said, "You are the greatest person I have ever known." and later that day he bowed down to me when I entered the classroom. People also constantly tell me that I am an extremely nice person. I don't understand why this happens, because I almost never talk, and I just go home after school and during lunch everyday, I don't see why I am so cool to people. Maybe they are being sarcastic?

Now would be an opportune moment to develop a narcissistic personality.

Honestly, I think you're taking their compliments too literally. They mean they like you and see you as a good, reliable friend, not that they literally worship you.

It was never my intention to be a narcissist. Rather, I was confused by there behavior, and I strove to understand it as well as I could. Being complimented is a very strange experience for me, I never understand why people want to compliment me, or simply feel I don't deserve that type of praise. Why do you say it is an opportune moment to develop a narcissistic personality?

I've been put on pedestals a couple of times - not quite worship, but close. It's a very uncomfortable place to be, because you know that the pedestal is built out of false ideas of your supposed greatness and perfectness, and that once the person who put you there finally recognizes that you're a normal human being, with normal amouts of flaws, they'll push you off the pedestal and you will have fallen a huge distance in their eyes, and they'll be so dissapointed that their construct was false that they won't like you any more.

The worst time was an ex-boyfriend when I went to OSU; I would flat-out tell him that I was a normal person, I swear I got as eloquent as a statesman trying to explain to him, and he would only gaze into my face and smile and nod and then say that he hadn't heard a word. ARRRGGGGHHH! Needless to say, that relationship didn't last.

Worship....this sounds like a great way to start a club....or is that a cult....I always get those two mixed up. I concur...you either love me or hate me....there's no middle ground.
