Your girlfriend reminds me of my sister (and you remind me of my sister's fiance). :) It was sweet to hear your story and watch the two of you interact. You looked very comfortable speaking in front of a group, too.

That's really neat of you to share this here.

Even though I only have my puny, little, add/hd diagnosis, I enjoyed the presentation. :D

I am still struck by this whole WrongPlanet experience you created for folks and how old you were when you did all this.

You have done an amazing job, and continue to do wonderful things Alex.

But...

You gotta quite interrupting your girlfriend and disagreeing with her... you're the guy... just stand there, nod your head and smile! :P

What happened near the end of the video. The girfriend was talking and all of a sudden the video went blank.

Well, you remind me of how I talk in front of smaller groups when all eyes are on me. HECK, I felt like I was doing that in front of liverbird when we met IRL. :D

But you did well. I like how you tied the milkyway bars into the talk!

Maybe you should have said exactly how the IEP helped you. When I went to school, there was NO ADA, NO AS definition, apparently not even autism!, I NEVER heard of an IEP before this board. I went to a normal school, and did ok, but I probably did zone out in class when it was bad.(In a few, it seemed like I never really knew about the homework. It was odd going from knowing, not needing, and not caring to not knowing, but maybe should have cared) I probably could have used an IEP even if it was only for that, social help, and maybe taking notes.

Thanks for posting that. I only had a chance to watch the first 10 minutes (I really ought to have been in bed), I'll try to see the rest tonight, but it was great to see someone who's life is so clearly together and who's doing OK. I think sometimes, it's easy to forget how big a spectrum it can be - a lot of the people here who're really struggling I want to support, but at the same time it kind of feels almost wrong for me to complain about my little difficulties when others are having such a hard time, so seeing someone who can stand up, keep themselves together, whose life is really pretty independant and together is really great. Makes me feel like I'm less of an anomaly, that I'm just part of a really big spectrum. :)

I haven't finished watching the video yet (have to leave for class in a few minutes), but it looks great. I also couldn't help noticing how much your speech pattern is like mine. Fast, uneven rate, with lots of interjections. I really have been working on it too, because I get comments from my clinic supervisor pretty much every week about it, but I've found it incredibly difficult to either slow my rate or decrease the number of interjections (um, like, etc.). Have people ever commented on your speech rate? My friends in college said they sometimes would have trouble understanding me.

i almost think that you could do aspie stand-up with some of that material. not to put it down, but you get people to laugh and somehow assimilate AS... it's good

Nice video. Were you wearing your yellow shoes in it? It was hard to tell with the low lighting. I really like those shoes.

While watching that, I thought Alex would be good at stand-up, too : )

btw Alex, your girlfriend is beautiful.

i hope you dont get offended alex but at one point in the video you were about to say something like "personally i think its harder for guys to get dates" and then all of a sudden your girlfriend was all like out of nowhere WRONG. lasers would have came out of my eyes if that happend to me and i would have been all "wtf?"
