Make your computer do something useful during its idle time! Download BOINC - it uses the time you're not actually doing something with your computer to make calculations for various scientific projects. I find that CERN's LHC@Home project can be mesmerising (but they don't have work all that often), SETI@Home I can also just sit and stare at (I also run Einstein@Home and Rosetta@Home, but they're less interesting to look at).
