I definitely see no benefit to me to be fashionable. I don't want my clothing to be a conversation peice; that invites small-talk, useless conversations about "that's so nice, where'd you buy it at?" and all those other things I try to avoid. NT's seem to like those conversations, but it doesn't appear that Aspies do mostly.

My clothes are mostly hand-me-downs from my older brother, and I wear my clothes til they wear out... which is basically when my mom says it is. If it were up to me, I'd get a few more months out of it. I do need new shoes though; over 2 years old and they're fallen apart beyond what help superglue can give em. >_<

Speaking of shoes, I have a pair that are 6 years old, one of the soles is paper thin, the other has holes in the bottom. I wasn't even aware of their condition until my grandma pointed it out. But they're still usable, and indeed look intact on the outside. I think they'd be about as good as new if the soles were replaced, if that's possible.

Apparently my sense of 'omgomgomgawesome' gets me labelled as having odd fashion sense. Though recently this has been reduced somewhat by the fact that I really like the 'military' style jackets that are in style now...

I can't abide half of these ridiculous stripy tops though.

I could care less about fashion-most of it is impractical, anyway.

I've come to the conclusion that it's best to dress in such a way that you look nice, but that doesn't go overboard into ultra conservatism or the modern styles. Like it or not, people judge you by the way you're dressed, so it's best to dress in moderation to make the widest number of people comfortable with you.

That said, I usually dress in jeans and a nice shirt when out in public. My first choice, though, would be a long skirt. I wish I knew more about clothes, so I could find a way to wear long skirts while fitting in to the crowd and not seeming too ultra conservative!

I wear what I want. And my brother was teasing me about it this morning, because I'm wearing my baggy camo cargo pants that are too big for me, and my creamy yellow t-shirt with Samus on it (I did the design) Proof that I have a lack of interest in fashion.

I don't care what decade it is. I dress to please myself.

I usually don't get very excited about clothes either. The only kind of clothes that make me really happy are my overalls.

I could care less. I wear things that are comfortable, and/or amuse me in some way. Fashion is utterly moronic and a waste of money.

To each their own.

I wear the same [type of] stuff everywhere, whether it's "cool" or not. Same shirts, same shorts and same shoes, I insist on sameness; I abhor change.

Most of my clothes are fished up off of my floor and washed with Tide, and I got at least half of my wardrobe either from the bottoms of cereal boxes or free/cheap at some fair or festival. If a bunch of t-shirts happen to be on sale for six bucks as I walk by on my way to get a cholestrol-laden cinnabon, I skip breakfast that morning and get a new shirt. As long as it fits and it doesn't earn me stares, I'm good to go. My pants? All Christmas presents from my mother and granny, and the same goes for underwear and socks. Not only do I not care about fashion, but I don't even really think twice about what I'm wearing. If all I had laying on the floor were denim short-shorts and navel-exposing tops, I'd go out wearing them without thinking twice about it. I have gone out to the store wearing a bathrobe, and I have gone to class in my peejays.

I'm a complete atheist on the subject. I consider this essential to my manhood.

I dress for comfort, I hate shopping for clothes and think fashion is pointless. People think I have less money than I do because I often wear old clothes - if people look down on me for this, then they're not worth the trouble in the 1st place. If people don't like me for the way I dress, then good riddance.

In hing school I tended to try and ware what everybody else was had, however over the years I have really gotton into outdoor stuff alot more and so I invest in usually EMS clothing, jacket, hat, and shirts. I dont think alot of people ware this stuff much, it is quite an investment usually, but a very good one for me due to what I enjoy and the nessessity and ruggedness of the stuff. I feel when I go out that even tho I have somewhat different clothing I often look cooler and feel more compfortable in whatever I have on.

Icarus and fashion,

...involves utility, comfort, geekdom, and a big f**k YOU at the status quo, ala Johnny Cash.

Only cool colours and earth tones; black rules. Mostly only natural fibers; wool, cotton, leather, steel.

I've noted throughout my life that my sense of fashion tends to make humans... nervous; this is an edge that I do not dislike.

Good fortune,

- Icarus taught Batman about the utility belt...

I like the attitudes about clothes that come up here - they're pretty close to mine. :)
I don't mind old or cheap clothes either or wearing the same for more than one day (as long as it's clean and doesn't smell bad. ;) ) NTs just make it all so complicated, haha.
It comes to my mind that when I was younger my family would criticize me for that, or for the clothes I wore or put together, or other things I didn't notice... and they thought it was incredible. If I said to them, but how should I know that was "wrong", you never told me (ie. if they hadn't told me before of course), they would say that I should be able to figure it out myself, and if I couldn't, it was really incredible...
That was a difference between NT and AS thinking, I guess... but none of us knew, but what is obvious to an NT, isn't always to an aspie, and vice versa.
(But it was kind of a work to try to figure everything out on beforehand, also with other things. )
