I just moved to Texas, you see, because I started grad school this semester. Well, I'd been going to a psychiatrist for about 9 months prior to that, as a result of some rather bad anxiety/depression issues. He had diagnosed me with atypical OCD, ADHD and GAD.

The second time I saw my new p-doc, he asked me if anyone had ever mentioned the possibility of my having Asperger's Syndrome to me. He noticed it at our first meeting, but brought it up at the 2nd.

I had done student teaching during spring of 06 and had had a student that my cooperating teacher thought had Asperger's Syndrome. I had done some research at the time, but hadn't really connected much between me and the characteristics.

Although, this my response towards my p-doc's comment: "Oh yeah? I had wondered that once before." Totally just came out of my mouth. Who knew.

Oh and I'm 23. Getting diagnosed was a blessing, because now I can tell people (ie- close family) that I haven't purposely been trying to annoy them all my life. It's just the way my brain works. :) I also no longer feel alone in the world. I have a community now. :D

Check out my blog; it's listed in my signature. It's an aspie oriented website with lots of interesting aspie related links. :) I think that Aspergers is my new special interest, because I spend all of my spare time researching it. :) It's very awesome to be an aspie/HFA. There are so many cool people in our midst. :D
