An "official" diagnosis is not necessarily in an adults best interest. It may complicate your insurance. Most insurance companies won't touch autism or "autism related conditions." It's only necessary if you want to try to collect disability income. Spend a few months hanging out on this site and you'll probably come to the correct conclusion.

Insurance companies won't touch an adult with Asperger's? How do you know this? I was considering getting myself diagnosed.

My HMO, Capital Health Plan, owned by BC/BS, specifically excludes autism and "autism related conditions."

I was sent the Wired link when I appeared here asking ther very same questions, and also found this link to the same test.
http://www.msnbc.com/modules/newsweek/autism_quotient/

A professional diagnosis for an adult, as some have said, can be problematic. I am pursuing mine simply because my son exhibits some of these same symptoms, and unless I have a dr.'s word behind me me ex won't have him tested. I have no need or desire for meds or therapy.

Please explore this site, browse all you can, and welcome!!
