You did not say this 'wrong' at all! I understand your meaning. Plus, you are, in many respects, very pragmatic; like the 'voice of reason' for WrongPlanet - I really appreciate this quality! Sometimes when I am lost, lost, lost, or have diverged....you bring me back. You are consistently 'on track,' if you know what I mean. I realize too that you may be more NT than some on WP but nevertheless an Aspie - makes for a unique combination.

Further, for those Aspies who may be 'less affected' by autism (by self-report) I can spot a subtle but nevertheless qualitative difference. For another example, Tim_Tex, whom I really like, is quite clearly in that in-between gray area of AS to NT. Much like that for you too!

This place doesn't make me feel more "normal"
(read: Neurologically Typical), no. On the other
hand, writing to these forums and reading other
people's experiences does make me feel
that I am "inside the ballpark", or "within normal
parameters", for a person with Asperger's Syndrome.

Definitely doesn't make me feel normal.
But helps me think.
Realising that why i don't feel normal anywhere is because i never fit into the artificial, socially-constructed, categories of child or adult and that this is not acceptable in our society, is wonderful!

Well, THANKS for the nice compliment! :D You are probably a good example of both sides. Some aspects of your life I envy, and others I certainly don't. I am happy that you seem to be fairly happy though. In the end, THAT is what really counts.

As for my being closer to NT? I don't know. In my case the effects really are pervasive. As for Tim_Tex? He almost seems to have a ball taunting us. 8( People will say I have this problem, or that, and I can relate, and tim_tex goes "I don't!". 8( If such things were indicative, I may be three times as affected as tim_tex. That isn't to say anythin against tim. Admittedly, he may have other things that I don't that nobody talks about. AS, even parts that affect me a LOT, affects people in more ways than I originally imagined.

It makes me feel normal as in that I am not somehow different from everybody I am interacting with. I can be myself, react the way that comes naturally too me, and pursue the thoughts as they come to me and not have to force them in strange ways to be accepted.

Normal is, as normal does.

You understand what I was asking very well. I don't mean that the forum makes us feel like an NT, but a forum that makes us feel similar to the majority of posters, and how an NT feels about themselve in relations to other posters.

I'm still trying to process how this all makes me feel. I went to a Meetup with a fellow poster here a couple of days ago, and she told me she posts here and it helps. I've known about the site for the longest time, but was avoiding it because I felt weird about my condition. After the meeting I felt much better, but I'm still trying to get through it.

It makes me feel normal within the context of wrongplanet.
Everywhere else, I'm a misfit.

Perhaps I should have worded it, "Does WP make you feel like you fit into the society as a NT person would in an NT site.

I concur. It's not normal in the sense of NTs being normal. But normal in the sense of not feeling totally alien and as if everything I say is completely stupid. When I say X is my experience, I don't feel like people are pointing and laughing. I feel more like people are saying, that's my experience, too. I feel accepted and happy. Which is a pretty weird feeling for me.

WP is the one board anywhere where I feel like I understand what people are saying, and people here understand me, so yes.

Wrong Planet does not make me feel more normal because I remember why we are all so similar.
