That's just dumb. How can empty, emotionless robot-shell-things with no self possibly WANT anything?
is this dr phil episode available to watch?

Phil didn't even mention all of the early warning symptoms either. Did you notice that he only put up the social warnings? Makes sense because he is a talk show host and I'm sure in his mind, not talking would be the end of the world plus he reminds me of this guy from South Park.

Children, drugs are bad mmmkay?

Oprah did start the trend to speak of autism so now everyone else is following and couldn't be bothered to be informed.

They are sending this message to people watching and that message that is sent across is that the child is a demon but clearly there were other issues going on around that house. Also, he didn't even bother mentioning the child had tourettes.

Thanks for mentioning both Mr. Mackey (South Park is my favorite TV show) and Dr. Phil (he went to the school that I am currently attending) in the same post.

It does, it just goes to show you what stupid lies we are up against.

Fergie had a long trip. She didn't have time to use the restroom and was rushed on stage.

She could have worn adult undergarments like Lisa Nowak.

haha. You made me laugh.

I find it odd that on Dr. Phil's and Oprah's site there are links to find out more about autism through autism speaks. I wrote about it in the news and current events forum under the dr. phil thread.

I've heard people ask others with aspergers if their parents disowned them for head banging and being a problem child so their version of awareness is working. People are watching that and thinking "If I had a child like that, I'd kill the child."

I am sorry to say this but I wet the bed very rarely when I am asleep and off my risperdal.
I also sometimes wet myself a little bit but that's because I used to hold it all the time and so I forgot how it feels when you need to go. I am also 17 still kinda a kid and I am actually H.F.A. I really hope this isn't TMI and I really hope this doesn't creap you all out but I am sorry if it does please forgive me. Just because some people with A.S.D.'s have that problem doesn't mean all of us do. I agree that picture is horrible and I feel sorry for fergie.

Here is Fergie on a dry day.

I won't comment on that. I think you've said enough on that point.

To avoid some people feeling stigmatized by this mockery, I would like to point out that some stereotypes do have some basis in truth. Enuresis (bed-wetting) is quite common among neurologically atypical children (ASD, ADHD, OCD, etc.) and can occur with NT children as well. Enuresis often is the only bladder-contrrol problem HF atypical children anywhere on the spectrum are likely to have, although more severely disabled children may have further problems controlling bladder function while conscious.

Myself, I had problem with bed-wetting until I was 7, and the problem corresponded rather neatly with my hyperlexic phase, suggesting it does have a connection to my AS.

I just wanted to say that in case any of our more sensitive or younger members read this and felt embarrassed about something a lot of us have likely experienced.

I wet myself occasionally too...I wet the bed when i was into my teens...not all the time...but during times of extreme emotional distress....

As a kid I was a serious bed wetter...I brought it up shortly after i first joined WP and the general response was that bed wetting had little-to-nothing to do with AS.

As an adult...I have had a few bladder control issues but I don't ascribe them to the possibility that I might be an aspie...

Let me say that Kitsy meant no mockery by her post. Sometimes people misunderstand what she is saying. The same is true for me. Kitsy is cool, very cool! She meant no insult. She is a very nice, understanding, and sensitive person.

Kitsy, you are the best. It is easy for people to misinterpret the written word.

I'm sorry but I have to ask, are implying that any kid with a psychological problem is neurologically atypical? And then everyone else is NT?

One less-than-frightful night, young Daniel (<10) went for a sleepwalk, he walked to the kitchen, opened a cupboard and piddled in the toaster. My targets were many. I nearly got my sister once (unfortunately, I was stopped beforehand by my ever vigilant mother who knew what I did as I walked the halls at night).

Good times.

I wet the bed until I was 13.
I made the mistake of telling a "friend" this, when, at age 12, she asked why I was worried about going to school camp.
Her: "What's the matter, you don't wet the bed, do you?"
Me: "Yes."

She promptly told the whole school.

On of my friend's sisters was sleepwalking and went to the toilet in the sink once.
