I completely agree with your philosophy, I think it's beautiful. I think it's important to see yourself with unbiased eyes... unfortunately that doesn't even seem to cross most peoples minds.

To be fair, I'm not sure I agree with my own philosophy. I just felt like posting an attention grabbing message and jotted down the first thought that popped up in my mind :D

No I think it's absolutely terrible to call yourself a loser.

Loser is all about attitude imo, not what sucesses you have.

Calling yourself a loser?
Nope. But I understand the feeling.

Well, if you define the word 'loser' as a person who has tremendous difficulty holding down a job, finding a meaningful relationship, and still living with their family past age 30...

Then yes, I am a loser, and I have no qualms at all labeling myself as such. I guess that's what 12 years of being bullied can do to a person. *shrugs*

I think anyone who thinks of them self a loser because of ongoing depression and suffering can't be wrong, but this type of thinking is perpetuating the suffering and vice versa. Self denial is a good thing here becasue it's helping you to fight the depression.

You could be living with your family, without a job and struggling to establish a meaningful relationshop but that doesn't make you a loser. Because humans are alike they assume certain lifestyles and behaviours indicate suffering. They make assumptions but do they know if that person is suffering - can they feel his/her emotion? no. I was living with my family, not going out, without a job for 2 years and no friends. People would think of me as a loser but tt was the happiest period of my life. Then I got a job, living somewhere else indpendently, making very good money but now I'm a nervous wreck in depression.

As mentioned before, I think loser has more to do with the amount of hatred present in the situation.

While I never became a particularly spectacular person, I don't consider myself a loser, either. Losers are people who don't care about others, who don't take care of their pets and who are mean and cruel. I am not that kind of person. I have a job I love, good parents, lots of pets and lots of interests.

Hmm, looks like someone has found a way to squeeze some new expressiveness out of a word usually used differently. I do that, too, when sufficient emotion provokes me to.

I think the common meaning of "loser" is pretty much universally a damaging concept: It indicates that the person is either unable to reach his/her/es own goals or the goals everyone thinks he/she/e should have achieved. The first is tragic, the second is arrogant.

As for me, I consider myself a sort of latent winner. :) I may not have much to show for over two decades of oxygen consumption, but I know that I have the potential to achieve all manner of spectacular things if I continue to pursue the right opportunities.

Self-proclaimed attention whore. That's pretty much the definition of a loser. Good job!
