When did you lose your innocence? (not about sex at all)

I would say around high school, I was gettin older, realizing the world I 'lived in' was not the real world, I knew I would have to plan for my future, first time ever, and that things would change once school ended. I learned alot about myself and about the world and others around this time, or at least finally preceived it for the first time cause it was in front of my face the whole time, I just never understood I guess. Hard to explain... maby you understand.

I won't say I've completely lost it, though one certain incident is in my mind to this day.

Was my junior year of high school, and I came across something online which I would rather not mention (it's not what you might be thinking, either).

I got three whole days of in-school suspension for that.

I think it's only now that my innocence is finally starting to slip away (and it's not totally gone yet). I've been like a child for way too long.

When I finally got sick of just letting people bully me and jammed a piece of wood into someone's neck. Certainly the first time I ever felt genuinely angry, and I've never been able to look back, so I figure that would be my loss of innocence.

The thought of it is an embarrassment for me.

When I was 7 or 8 and saw stuff on the Bosnian War on the news.

Learning about genocide is hard on a little kid's mind...

First time : at age 3 (in lebanon , kids enter the kindergarten at age 3) in the kindergarten school where I was picked on by the same bullies daily since day 1. (50% of innocence lost)

Second time: I lost the rest of 'innocence' here , I think it was at age 5 during the civil war ....when a militia group of Murabitun (Arab socialist jerks) who were fighting Amal Movement (jerks too) invaded the balcony of our house ,which its door was locked, and a started to threat my mother by shooting on all over the house through the door and windows , my mother had no choice but to unlock the door.
They entered the house and we were forced to knee me and siblings and mother (good that father wasn't there!). They only wanted to enter so they can go to the other side of the street from the back door.

At a church my family attended after we ceased home-churching. I saw firsthand how "Christians" rejected me and my family just because we were different and didn't follow the pastor blindly. I also learned in that church how people twist words around to make it sound like they agree with something when they don't and how to make something bad look good. Oh, and I also learned not to trust everyone during the time I attended that church. Sad, sad, sad.

I would say I first lost my innocence when I started school and became aware I was different. However, I never lost my sense of optimism. I have become smarter and wiser, however.

I don't think I've ever been innocent.

either kindergarten or first grade..... those are the meanest people in the freaking world..... different is not accepted

I don't think that I've ever been truly innocent that I can remember. My parents never really sheltered me at all (although they are fantastic and weren't abusive or anything like that), so I kinda got desensitized at a very young age. That said, I am probably the most forgiving person I know of, and so I guess I'm kinda naive that way. I'm also quick to apologize, and frequently I find myself taking blame for things that really weren't my fault. Having two older brothers who are much more convincing when lying about things than I am when telling the truth doesn't help much either.
