Which is why those of us who are aware of this tendency in ourselves, don't pretend to speak for others on the spectrum. I am VERY Aspie...and I love some fiction books and films and understand most figures of common speech. I don't think you can really make such hard and fast rules/pronouncements about "every Aspie in the world..."

I agree with everything you said. I love fiction, just last night I couldn't put a book down. But my aspie father hates fiction.

As sure as I am an Aspie, I sensed the complete sarcasm in this. Like he's annoyed by those kind of definitions which are really baseless steriotypes. It's a sarcastic exaggeration of how NTs try to concretely define us, or else accuse us of not having it at all.

i dont really know what that guy is trying to say but i know that everyone has there each and own individual obsessions and there is no guideline for what people with aspergers are interested in. I dont care what he thinks

I think the generalization about literal stuff is wrong, people learn over time that extreme statements like "Catch their eyes" mean something else. It is true for much more subtle and less used ones that they may not have heard before.

Hating fiction is not always true. I Like proust because he speaks in single unique sentences that encapsulate thoughts. And I think he hates his characters as much as I do!
