I do that all the time, but I doubt that it's anything particularly associated with autism.

I hope I'm not the only one.

That is common to MOST people, and MOST of them are NT! It isn't ret*d at all.

Wouldn't it be called "absent-mindedness"?

I have my moments.

Eh... it's no big deal for me when I misplace things or can think of a word or phrase I want to use. It's when I really need something I've misplaced, I panic. 8O Like misplacing my car keys when I have an appointment.

I don't suffer from Alzheimer's just yet, I suffer from Sometimer's.

Now this is something I can argue.

How is it not ret*d? If I delay in doing something, that by definition is ret*d. My mind ret*d a bit. It was slow in processing.

I doubt your, and others', assertion that this is normal. Not when it happens every day.

H'oh yeah. And it usually leaves my, not one, but three managers laughing their asses off to my dismay. Oh the travesty!

Those kinds of things are called "brain f*rts" or "senior moments," depending on age. I have embarrassing moments when I can't recall certain things, although my memory is usually quite good.

i get that a lot. like when im going into a bathroom to take a shower , i took of my glasses (usually somewhere in my room). then after i finish my bath, i forgot where i put it. so i was like spending the next five or 10 minutes looking for it.

you know what is the most annoying about looking for your glasses? you cannot use your glasses to look for it, you know what im saying?

Retarted is such an insulting term, and we should never use it. It just makes everybody feel bad. However, I do understand what you're trying to say, and I've had those days too

LOL this one is fun. I pass enough that people say "what are you, ret*d or something"and I say 'yes' just to watch them crumple up when they realize I mean it.

Merle

then after they crumple into a small wad of wet drinking straw wapper. . I say "JOKE, hey man, I'm only kidding!" and they are so glad I let them off the hook they forget to bully me again. . .

it works every now and then if you get the timing right.
