I like barbies (Odd, but oh well), and since I don't have a job at the moment, I can't spend the money I don't have :P

My interests are relatively inexpensive. I rarely buy anything unless I am really interested in it.

i like books. I keep myself in check with the newest romance novel from wal-mart.... but my real love is old books.... they don't even have to be in really good condition.... because bad condition tells a story... where it has been... who owned it....... i had an 8 foot wall filled with my collection of books.... then i had to move.... i had to downsize from a one-bedroom apartment to one room...... it nearly killed me...... i ended up putting them on the curb and the first person to come by stopped and took them..... i have a 5 foot tall shelf now. i just bought my first new book since moving.

My obsession is video games, yet I only have 6.

I don't have this problem. I have no money, therefor I cannot possibly use my money to satisfy my obsessions. :P

I have over 50 Bionicles (not all of them are on display though; not enough room), a Bionicle quilt set, I'm a member of the Bionicle site at Lego.com, I have a Toa Nuva Tahu clock, the Bionicle board game and the Bionicle encyclopedia, by Greg Farshtey. All up, my collection would be worth well over $1000. Now that's what you call an expensive obsession! Also, my video game obsession has costed my mum a lot of money. I may only have six video games, but they're worth a lot of money.

Maybe. I just have some issues with prioritizing. The little one always comes first, he always has what he needs. But if it comes down to having a late fee on the water bill or getting my internet shut off, it's internet for the win. All of my obsessions are encompassed right in this beautiful little laptop right here. I almost die when I don't have the flavor of the week to obsessively refresh/check every 5-15 minutes. I really like to refresh

I'm going to have to start a "Pay Krista's water bill so she can stay on WP and Google AdWords all day" fund.

Paying the late fee on the water bill is way cheaper than paying to get your internet turned back on. So, see your priorities make perfect sense! lol

Seriously, I'm the same way. If money were time, then I'd be in terrible debt when it comes to my obsession with my pc.

Well. My obsession for cosplaying cost me about 250 USD for one convention. The next one I'm going to is going to cost me about 300 USD. Making costumes is expensive, rawr. And my need to have awesome knick-knacks and pocky.

But you want to talk about an expensive obsession? Dream of Doll. Look it up on google or something.

I spent 540 USD for one doll for my girlfriend. Her obsession is soooo expensive. It's rather insane, actually.

I used to spend ridiculous amounts of money in special interests. . .

Now I find it difficult to save money - a way or another I'll always end up making ends meet by the skin of my teeth.
It's like being late - if I prepare early, I end up wasting time until it's late - so I always arrive to certain places late by the same amount of time.

My most expensive obsession was aviation. I spent $3000 on learning to fly single engine aircraft. Then I ran out of money to fly so it turned into a learn-all-I-can-about-airplanes obsession.

I hardly think that anyone else should be expected to fund my habits, though...

What if one can't get the money any other way? And said interests are essential to one's well being?

I have the habit of collecting stuffed dragons. They can be very expensive, some ranging up to $45, and even one I saw for over about $105. Fortunately though, they're pretty uncommon so it's probably cheaper if I decided to collect something cheaper but with more abundance.

I'll be spending later in the year the following on my interests:

Over $160 on Sydney FC membership, over $120 on a Celtic FC home top each season and a few other expenses related to football.

It's an incredible amount for someone who is studying in a course rather than working.

I have a collection of over 800 DVD titles, but since I am a full-time student now, I will only buy my Simpsons and South Park box sets.
