NT or Aspie Posts: Can you tell the difference?

Sinsboldly, whom I would say is one of my closest friends, once asked me if I were NT. I forget why; it was the way I expressed myself.

When I first came here I tried to be logical. Since then I am more relaxed.

I have found that some autistics here use really big words that I have to go look up. As for telling the difference tho I can tell some posts but others I can't.
To me it doesn't matter where on the spectrum you are.

I hold people under a microscope, but here, I couldn't care less. If you're autistic or not, my opinions shouldn't matter.

I would say the biggest difference lies in the length of the posts.

Those with autism will tend to type longer responses on average.

However, remember that this is simply an observation, and is not a rule for everyone. Both can write short and long-winded.

Oooo. Funny story that happened in late January. My instructor, whom I very much respect/appreciate/like said (to another in reference to me): "She is missing her Sylvian Fissure." I do interpret literally. I answered, with honesty, "I really don't miss it. Not as if I think to myself, "I really miss my Sylvian Fissure." " Then, he (instructor) clarified. He meant I am lacking my Sylvian Fissure, not that I miss it, per se.

I do, however, on occasion, miss my Theory of Mind. I was absent that day. Unlike Icarus, I am deeply autistic this 1:18 am. Not that I am not autistic the other 24:59 - N the rest of the time. Geez.

Okay mindreaders - this means you: Am I neurotypical? I think not.

Further, I am feeling melty.

I was previously stacking blocks and am attempting to recover from potential meltdown. In response to OP: Parallel structure and pattern of thought is expressed in my/our writings. As is my gaping lack of Theory of Mind. Hence I am 'missing' my Sylvian Fissure.

Why am I not on the list of those for whom their posts are not readily autistic? I mean, if the Lab Pet's posts are not, then...........

It's that lack of Theory of Mind thing haunting me yet again.

Well, posts can tell something about people, that much I think is true. I can tell from how people word their speech/writing if they're lying or not, but whether they're autistic or NT or something else - no, I can't tell that. From the content if at all, but not from the writing style itself.

Clonazepam (which I am required to take, on schedule) + Crest 'citrus splash' (my favorite flavor toothpaste) + weighted blanket + light changing pillow (ranging from 440 nm < x < a gentle ~ 620 nm) + Tesla (my cat) + metronome = requisite sleep.



Why is the Lab Pet not in the list of those who are not overtly autistic seeming? Computational error.
I have green eyes.

I speak to 25 to 80 people a day, (but usually around 40 folks) in my job as telephone customer investigative service for a health care insurance company. People around me use a lot of brain power talking to them as individuals, and they chat in break about the differences in them making the job difficult to keep up with.

I hear each one as the same person. They all want something from me and I give it to them. they all seem the same to me. Just the same person with different voices. I am starting to think it is ME that just hears them all the same.

Um... You are on my list, LabPet. I have listed you before, by name, in similar threads; I even asked you to evaluate me; do you not recall? You are one of the specific people who's style I've pinned, the few, the special; with the exception of KingdomOfRats and Wolf, you are my most autistic model; but like all of the others, you are not "autistic" to me, you are unique. Your unique does definitely include HFA, but that is not the breadth of your unique. Your unique also includes science and math and fishnet stalkings and vampire thoughts; you are an interesting and potent compound.

Please do not melt down; chill instead? Tend towards zero Kelvins as a place of comfort...

I am feeling better, thank you. I performed perfusions in the lab yesterday until late after cryogenically slicing brains. I am laundering my lab coat this afternoon too.

I'm on the list. SO THERE Orwell.

I don't associate any particular writing styles to particular groups. As some have said, there are verbose NTs out there too; the excessively pedantic, and all the 'stereotypes' that aspies fall under when it comes to style.

Even between aspies, styles can vary tremendously. There's no way of drawing the line with certainty.

Mine? I'm vague. I ramble on and on without actually saying much with substance.

Secretly Icarus has been compiling each inhabitant of Wrong Planet on his 'list.' He will document this evidence for the mother ship. That's my theory.



Is anyone else on this thread (analogy coming) "Reading Between the Lines?" As in, yes, there are commonalities and this is in fact why we are a diagnostic whole, regardless of level of functioning. There is a common denominator. I believe sinsboldly gave a BIG hint too! She knows stuff. Listen.
