Grandaddy - Non-Phenomenal Lineage

Hello, good morning sir
The results are back
Now it's time to pack
Your things and go

Seems you came up rather short
Of the average sort
Now I must inform
You've no reason left to remain here

Surely you understand
Only gifted hands
Will receive the chance
To touch down on fortune

Now we'll gather up your things
Lead you to the gate
And you will go away
And never attempt to return here

Non-phenomenal lineage
Non-phenomenal lineage
Non-phenomenal lineage
Non-phenomenal lineage

---------------------------

Planet P Project - A Boy Who Can't Talk

well they're all so afraid of you
what you do with your mind
and they hide you and shut you away
just to keep you in line
and thousands are waiting outside
just to walk where you walked
where you walked
and the newspaper's screaming for words
from a boy who can't talk
he's just a boy who can't talk

well they offer you money
but money don't mean much to you
and they feed you with flattery
to get you to show them the things that you do
and thousands are waiting outside
just to walk where you walked
where you walked
and the newspaper's screaming for words
from a boy who can't talk

and you'd like to say "leave me alone
would you all get away"
and you wish you were safely at home
and you wish that somebody would stand up and say
"he's a boy
a boy who can't talk"
and thousands are waiting outside
just to walk where you walked
where you walked
and the whole world is screaming for words
from a boy who can't talk
he's just a boy who can't talk
he's a boy
a boy who can't talk

Yes. Judging by how many posts have came on this thread quickly by people who didnt contribute to you're thread, some must be too lazy to check out other forums here.

For me, with my experience of autism, this song sums up what the social difficulties are like:

Shirtless, by Ben Lee

It's not just my body
It's where I keep my heart
And that's mostly its difference
From any other part
And you wonder why I hide it like I do
And you wonder why I treat it like I do
Sure I want a suntan
Even though it'll hurt
But I can't take the vulnerability
When I take off my shirt

And it's not cause something someday you once took
And it's really not to do with how I look
I'm just so scared you'll see the true me
Or worse maybe right through me
If I would walk around without a shirt
If I go half naked
You'll see my heart is vacant
You'll take my heart if I take off my shirt
If I take off my shirt

I know that they all do it on 90210
But I'm not secure and handsome
And you're not a bimbo
And I can't believe you think that I'm a freak
Just cause I won't swim with you at the beach
I'm just so scared you'll see the true me
Or worse maybe right through me
If I would walk around without a shirt
If I go half naked
You'll see my heart is vacant
You'll take my heart if I take off my shirt
If I take off my
If I take off my
If I take off my shirt

I guess that I don't trust you
I think that you'll attack
You'll suck the life out of me
Like a vampire bat
See the way I work out what to do
See the way I shift the blame to you

I'm just so scared you'll see the true me
Or worse maybe right through me
If I would walk around without a shirt
If I go half naked
You'll see my heart is vacant
You'll take my heart if I take off my shirt
If I take off my
If I take off my
If I take off my shirt

The theme song for bananas in pajamas, when repeated more than 5 times, positively screams 'Aspergers' at me!

Come of think of it, so does 'the song that never ends'...

Songs that I listen to that I relate to. Maybe not directly Asperger's like, but they deal with similar issues that Aspies tend to deal with.

Boulevarde of Broken Dreams by Greenday
Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield
The Special Two by Missy Higgins

I'm not a music lover, I've always been into movies. Ask about movies, and I could give you a reasonable number of movies that I relate to about Aspie-ness...

Here's some of the lyrics from Korn- Faget that remind me of my school years (I wont print it all because there's a lot of offensive stuff in it):

Here I am different in this normal world
Why did you tease me? Made me feel absurd
F***ing stereotypes feeding their heads
I am ugly. Please just go away

Him!
I can see it's hard to find
This blessing in disguise
Him!
Why do you treat me this way?
Made the hate stay (Made the hurt stay)

I sound like I can never seem to escape
all the laughing, all the pain
If you were me, what would you do?
Nothing, probably. You'd just throw me away

Faget!

I'm just a pretty boy, whatever you call it
You wouldn't know a real man if you saw it
It keeps going on day after day, son
you fake, if we don't want none
I'm sick and tired of people treating me this way everyday
Who gives a f**k?!
Right now I got something to say to all the people that think
I'm strange and I should be out here locked up in a cage
You don't know what the hell is up now anyway
You got this pretty-boy feeling
like I'm enslaved to a world that never
appreciated s**t

DON'T LET ME BE MISUNDERSTOOD
(Benjamin/Marcus/Caldwell)

Baby, do you understand me now
Sometimes I feel a little mad
Well don't you know that no-one alive
Can always be an angel
When things go wrong I seem to be bad

I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Baby, sometimes I'm so carefree
With a joy that's hard to hide
And sometimes it seems that
All I have to do is worry
And then you're bound to see my other side

I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

If I seem edgy, I want you to know
That I never mean to take it out on you
Life has it's problems and I get my share
And that's one thing I never mean to do

'cause I love you
Oh, oh, oh, baby, don't you know I'm human
Have thoughts like any other one
Sometimes I find myself alone and regretting
Some foolish thing, some little simple thing I've done

I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Yes, I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Yes, I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

Yes, I'm just a soul who's intentions are good
Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood

A lot of Garbage's songs seem to be written either about or from the perspective of someone with AS.

I'm not Autistic, but my son probably is (eval next week), and as I've learned about Autism over the past couple of months, a song by the band The Notwist called "One Step Inside Doesn't Mean You Understand," which I had always thought of as a very pretty (if bitter) love song, now always makes me think of the Autistic perspective (as I imagine it):

Prepare your shoes not to come back soon,
Prepare your heart not to stop too soon.
You cannot walk with us.

One step inside doesn't mean you understand,
one step inside doesn't mean I'm yours.

In your world my feet are out of step,
my arms don't move, my hand won't grab.
I will never read your stupid map,
So don't call me incomplete.
You're the freak.

I highly recommend their record "Neon Golden."
