Ohm well.. Some giggles and chuckles is to be expected, in my oppinion. I don't think it's a sign of AS as it is a mention poor dress code choices. I remember when I used to wear an ugly brown outfit to school for a whole semester.  Some of the girls called me gay. Which was actualy kind of understandable, at the time. I of course stopped wearing it after finally noticing how horrible it looked on me in a photo. ugh..

After all, it was light brown, with an old style pants and jacket that would be more suited for a young male in the mid 1960s. Course back then I would have still been picked on for it. heheh. Let's see, 1988 or so was it? I feel embarased just thinking about how bad I was at picking cloths.  Even ordinary boys cloths would have been a far better choice than that brown outfit.

Reminds me of that Dane Cook bit about the creepy guy at work.

There's no decorum in the forum. :P

They've always been that way. How do you think that the Republican Party of America is even possible? How do you think that conservative Christianity came into existence?

I say have them neutered before they're old enough to breed. We've gotta control the population somehow.

Hmm. The kid dresses up like Star Trek and he's ridiculed. But, what about the boys who go to school today with jeans on five times too big hanging down to their knees so you can see their underwear, shoe laces untied, hats on backward walking like thugs? And, what about the girls who have all their private parts hanging out of tank tops and low riders on so low that you can see the cracks in their butts 'cause the G-strings are sticking out and so are their tatoos in inappropriate places. And, they do this on purpose! So, the public can see because they want the attention. And, they're going to good schools in good areas. Their parents have forgotten the most important thing: That if we don't teach our kids to respect themselves, then who else is going to respect them?

Sorry, but I'd take the kid dressed up as Star Trek anyday. He's probalby more likely to actually get an education.

Sincerely,

Consevative Republican :D

Bullying is horrible, but instead of automatically hating anyone that thinks it's funny, maybe the kid was trying to be funny?

He went to school in a Star-Trek costume. Either he is so socially inept that he shouldn't even be in a typical high-school, or he was just some kid trying to get a good laugh out of something, like the time my [male] cousin went to school in drag.

There is really not enough information from this lone anecdote to really declare the downfall of the American youth.

When I was around 15 I used to wear a Che Guevara beret to school (black with a red star). Looking back it took a lot of balls, I would be self-conscious about doing it now. I had got in on family holiday in Cuba. This was in that days before emos/indie kids wore such things as PLO headscarves as accessories. I guess in a decade or so lime green burka will be the must have item...for guys

Granted I was in a small school in Kingston Jamaica, with its fair share of individuals. Strangely my time there was on the only time I wasn't bullied mercilessness in a school. Wearing the beret actually helped me. It didn't make me feel me social anxious, conversely it was 'cover'. Like a nice crutch.

No offense, no one dislikes the memes and mores of the conservative Xtian Right as I do, but I do believe the religious conservatism, as well as a general air of "moral" conservatism in the US, are largely due to the Puritans who came over from England to have their "religious freedom" but then founded that on judgmentalism and ostracizing those who deviate from the accepted norm.

I think the Republicans are more traditionally founded on $$$. However, now that has become enmeshed with the religious conservatism (although I don't know how many true religious conservatives there are in the government as opposed to just generally stupid and greedy people; they more often seem to use their "religiousness" as a platform for votes). But hey, that's just my perception.

Right to an opinion.

Frankly, I couldn't care less about both sides. Both of their extremists I would watch out for. One wants me to conform to other's expectations, the other wants me to change me to the point where I forget who I am. One is more religious, the other non-religious.

Where is the middle ground?

Both want money/power and care not for you and I.
