Does Cleaning Make Anyone Else Physically Ill?

This what I used to do for a living. I like to clean because I like order and getting things sorted out. I have always been this way. But my kids are slobs so I have picked up some nasty bad habits.

Lately where I live has been rather cluttered as it is a small place for four people. Need more shelves, I think, as space is limited.

I don't get physically ill, but it does make me feel icky.

I'm the opposite--I love to clean. It gives me something akin to a "high".

(I probably wouldn't be saying this if I had to clean public toilets.)

I do enjoy washing greasy dishes, wiping windows clean, vacuuming, etc.

Yes, I get physically ill from cleaning. I get a dizzy, nauseous and a headache from dust, cleaning products and bending my head down. I keep meaning to try those 'environmentally friendly' cleaning products that are supposedly better for people prone to headaches.

These products are fantastic. My 5 year old daughter has her own bottle of Basic H2, our general cleaner. I would never do that with a store bought cleaner.

I have customers that suffer from asthma that use our products and they love this line, no attacks, no headaches, no wheezing, etc.

Pine and lemon smells, smell good, but they are actually fumes...toxic fumes.

I sure as hell hate the act of cleaning but I definitely LOVE when my apartment is nice, neat and clean.

My nickname used to be "Pig pen." So I'm not afraid to get myself filty in the process of getting my place clean. Just as long as the job gets done.

If I've let the apartment go and it becomes filthy then I do find myself getting really apprehensive about tackling the chore. But I have spent the last several years keeping my apartment hospital clean so that I never have to do one of those I-wasted-a-whole-weekend-cleaning occasions.

Maybe it's just an OCD thing . . . maybe I should just wear rubber gloves whenever I'm cleaning so as to not touch anything
