Seizures!! I HATE THEM!! !! !! !! !! !! ! ! !! !! !! !! !

This guy has one of those units in his chest and wears a clip-on magnet to switch it on incase he has a seizure or knows he's fixing to.

I've been working in emergency medicine since 1976, so seizures are nothing new for me to see.
I went over and held his head so he didn't bang it against the floor or furniture, and I also removed his glasses.
The instructor, meanwhile kept telling me to leave him alone.. we aren't supposed to touch him!

He came around after the first responders passed the magnet over his unit.
I left class eventually and when I got home I looked it up.
First time I have ever heard of VNS.
But since I've been working in a lab for a number of years, I wouldn't have a reason to know about it anyway.


And I learned something new today. I looked up Vagus Nerve Stimulation becaiuse of your post. Very interesting. Thanks. I'm going to ask my daughter's neurologist about that.

Yuck, I can sympathize with that. I had to be taken off one of my seizure meds at the hospital, and in the time I was there I wasn't given the other one. The reason being that one of them (Trileptal) seemed to be causing liver problems.

I'm not sure of the parameters for prescribing this to patients.
I'm at work tonight and every doctor and nurse I've asked so far has never heard of it.

I'm going to contact the company and see if they will provide our hospital with information on it incase a patient ever shows up at our E.D., or a visitor shows up with one.

I'm really sorry to hear about all this stuff happening with you Becky.
I hope your family is doing better.
Sounds like you have something for your daughter's care for both the seizures and burns.
Hope they heal up well.

I wish your daughter feels better. Could you put some creams on her legs to soothe the pain? Is there any meds you could try to prevent the seizures? I wish you all the best, and I wish I could say something that would help you.
