Nope. I am a right-side-of-the-staircase kinda person and I try to keep my personal bubble as intact as possible. Thus, I am very hesitant to cross paths. I usually hold back.

Unless I am in a hurry and then I believe I am more likely to cut many people off. But this is simply the nature of hurriedness.

The 1st and last step are more difficult to judge than the ones in between, similar for me to problem getting on & off an escalator. When to look, when to leap, timing & coordination.
Stairs w/o risers? (vertical things between steps) scare me-feel like I'm going to fall through, don't like how un-sturdy they look. Stairs w/o bannister/handrail, esp. steep ones make me feel sick trying to navigate them. Ladders make me wobbly, don't trust them.
Get what I call "revertigo", reverse vertigo-looking up at heights, like a tall building when I stand right next to the edge/corner at foot of it. Sense of "it's a long way up from here", kinda' dizzying. Happens when I look at the stars up in the sky, too. Less off-putting/risky to look way up than way down, but still...Don't need "thrill rides", sufficient headrush from "everyday" large-scale life.

I tend to do that as well. I've managed to control it a little, but I do find that I still do it every now and then...

I don't cut people off when I'm walking but I admit I cut people off when I'm driving and someone's merging into my lane. I just feel I have to get in front of them.

I seem to have more balance issues going UP stairs rather than going down them; therefore, I am more likely to fall up stairs than down, which is really what I would prefer if I had to make a choice. It's quite odd though. I really would have expected the opposite of myself.

Though I do often worry about just TRIPPING down the stairs. So I am usually quite close up against the handrail, especially if other people are walking the stairs (even though I really don't like touching public handrails). But I get distracted by them and I am more likely to trip or something when my attention is divided.

Even though I don't fall much because I am so cautious, I have constant fears of falling.

Which way are you supposed to walk up and down the stairs? :?

It's usually the same as the side people drive on in your country. I had quite a hard time remembering to walk on the left when I was in Tokyo.

Even if I were in the UK and were aware of the change in custom, I would still likely walk on the right side since that is my dominant hand and also the strongest and most likely to keep me stable.
