School=stupid
Of note, school itself, the institution, is no different to forced incarceration as there's no choice given until one reaches a certain age when they can leave.
Society versus the individual, and I think each person should be able to make their own choice--if one wishes to be a pilot, of course they'll need education and training in such, but if one wishes to be a drifter/hermit who lives off the land, the latter is forced to still attend classes they don't wish to go to (the latter is also derided for such because it's not the "norm", and in a society that values wealth over morality (keep to oneself and harm no one); it's expected for people to look down on those who don't achieve what should be achieved in the eyes of the majority).
English never taught me anything; yet I can still communicate my point adequately, even before I learnt proper punctuation on my own account (I don't have a certificate saying I can however). I can still do Pythagoras' theorem, yet I supposedly cannot for I failed math.
People say that school gives choices, I say that it takes away just as many when seen from the eyes of someone who doesn't fit into the standard box.
Not to mention the inherent meanness that humanity displays when in groups, and schools create the environment that grows hate and intolerance for those who're different, ah, but what of all of the anti-bullying measures? Everyone bullies the autistic individual, even the teachers who implement the measures.
well, some schools in the USA have a ABTF (anti bullying task force). Its basically a armed special force unit that is trained to locate the position of head-bullys and take him/her out with silenced MP5s.
um, ask your principal about it....

I did well in school, but I think that is because my mother began reading to when I was very little, practically from the time I was a baby. I loved to read and did well in all subjects involving reading and study. I did well in math until I got to second semester algebra, then my eyes just glazed over.
I often wonder why I needed so much schooling. I have a Master's in English. Only one of my jobs, teaching English at the community college, ever required that much schooling. However, everything I've done is somehow related to books and reading, so I suppose it has been helpful. I also took a course in Legal Office Systems at my local business college. The supporting computer courses should be helpful if I want a full time job at the library.
I am thinking of taking some library skills courses on the Internet. I think that would be interesting.
School = stupid. Absolutely.
I don't fit in the system, never did, even when I did fairly good, straight Bs, which is as good as I ever got. I learn entirely different, I learn at a different pace, I learn in very different ways, I never learned anything in school. I'd come home and then do the material I missed out in a day of 5 classes at home in half an hour in elementary school. That is, when I didn't throw a tantrum because homework was boring...
I I just forgot lots of skills I learned already when I was in class. I could read before school - but then, when school started, I suddenly couldn't read and even couldn't learn reading. (Fortunately, one afternoon I just could read again almost one year after). It always went like this.
For me it wouldn't work taking only the exams, because all the analyses we have to write here. they need to be exactly the way the teachers or the government wants them to be. Either you write the exact quote down and use the exact words to explain it or you're screwed and fail.
There are only 4-8 extra points for the countless 'other achievements' in my writings that I can get in one exam.
I usually fail. I'm not fit for school. I know others are, I've seen them, but I'm just not.
I need independent learning. I can't hold a proper job anyway, so no need to educate me on how to fit in a system and hold down a proper job.
I'll study in some place where my NC, the grades, don't matter. Netherlands probably?

I knew a guy with a masters in English! He would say he "did GOOD at English", and miht talk about "the group and me went...", etc.... I kept correcting him, as as he was so haughty about that degree, and his grammar was SO poor. He, HIMSELF, then said it didn't mean he could speak english well, etc...
Anyway, things like that REALLY turn me off of the idea of college. In a few years, they may start naming SCHOOLS! Then again, one school has been considered the best on the planet for computers, and I have seen some of their graduates that make a case for it not being a good university at all!
BTW has anyone ever seen "How to succeed in business without really trying"?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_to_Suc ... lly_Trying
The protagonist ends up being smarter than many of the supposedly educated people, even if he is pretty stupid. It also leads you to wonder if ANY of them really went to college. Sadly, it might as well have been a documentary.
Education is worthwhile applicable things that are learned and understood. Stating it must be from school is ludicrous and starts a circular logic that can really have no logical end as it never had a beginning.
