The gift of focus. When I get involved in something I can easily concentrate 90% of my mental power at the problem at hand. I'm still aware of the world around me, but it is secondary to my current concerns. It also gives my an extreme tolerance to physical pain, something that came in handy when I smashed off my fingernail.

Also seeing the world in black and white does have it's advantages if you apply it correctly. In me, this has manifested as a set of ethics that I will not compromise on. And in todays world uncompromising ethical people are hard to come by, but still just as needed as ever.

A good memory and a broad general knowledge base. I have had plenty of obsessions and interests over my lifetime, but all the facts and learning I have gathered have been stored in my memory.

Here, here! In fact- one rule I made in my relationship: while I don't mind having "some fun" with my girlfriend when we go on vacation, I do NOT want to go all the way until that ring is on her finger, which she said was cool. I made that rule LONG before I got involved with her, and EVERYONE'S questioned me on it.

Ironically, the decision I made had NOTHING to do with religion either, as I'm non-religious. I just want my first time to be REALLY special, and you CAN'T TOP the night yer married- sorry, that "what about your 1 year dating anniversary" business just doesn't cut it.

I was even told by a now sworn enemy of mine "oh, treat girls like crap- they like guys who treat them poorly". I NEVER compromised on my ethics, and I would never do that. And my g/f loves me even more because I treat her like gold.

Interestingly enough that's one of my ethics as well. Of course I've never been on anything resembling a date in my entire life (I'm only 18 however, so I still have plenty of time) so that hasn't been an issue.

Others include stuff like: Never intentionally annoy someone, help those in need as long as you are able, don't kill someone unless they are going to kill you or someone else, never think someone is beyond redemption, always respect the opinion of others.

Most of them are based off my religious views (which are rather unusual for a Christian, but that's not the point), others are based on my life experiences.

Well, I doubt any of these traits can be claimed to be monopolized by Aspies, but they are more common or more pronounced.

I can do calculus in my head.

I am very honest and blunt. If you ask me a question, you will get an answer, and you will never have to second-guess whether I am being honest or not.

I am able to stay emotionally detached, and I handle disappointment pretty well. I found out today that I was rejected from MIT, and I'm not particularly upset about this. I'll go to college somewhere else and it's not the end of the world.

I am objective. (This is probably helped by the emotional detachment)

I have an amazing memory.

I am loyal and do not talk about people behind their backs. If I have a problem with someone, I'll tell them up front rather than gossip about them behind their backs; I also will typically defend others who are being talked about behind their backs.

I do not get involved in all of the silly teenage social drama.

I've been know to be nit-picky over the small details.

I'm also a walking encyclopedia, so to speak.

1. Easily amused...spinning toys, flashing lights, lava lamps... 8O

2. Very observant....this could be an asset at a crime scene I guess.

3. I can memorize numbers really well, plate numbers, strings of random numbers, street numbers...names however are a problem.

#3 describes me perfectly.
