I wouldn't worry about anyone getting sued, Bopkasen. The Onion does this kind of prank journalism every day. Satire is not subject to libel laws. It is obviously satire - $80,000,000? These kinds of journalism pranks show up all over the place on April 1.

Well I am just letting you know, I mean a autistic person in AFF created a website to mock Autism Speaks only to get a backlashed from lawyers from unknown location asking that it be shut down or face lawsuit.

This is to show that Autism Speak does have some legal power which unfortunately protecting the corporate without conscience of whether they are right or wrong.

All well... what a good way to get off the wrong foot in April Fool Day when there should have been a April Fool disclaimer. I would have honestly laugh if it did contains April Fool in the bottom.

What makes it a prank is FOOLING PEOPLE. :wall: That's the POINT!

I love the april edition of Discovery magazine. They always put in some goofy purported science article. Once was a caveman drawing of a marching band. Once was a story about a discovered creature like a naked mole rat that burns its way through glaciers. I laughed my head off, and then the next week I attended a writer's meeting where one of the writers was excitedly describing this new animal that burned its way through glaciers. I'm glad she forgave me for laughing so hard I nearly fell off my chair. I had to talk to her for a long time to persuade her it was an april fools joke, she really believed it. I need to keep reminding myself that because I have a sciences background I intuitively know how ecology and energy systems work in a way that most people don't.

Ummm, obviously not all Europeans and Asians have heard of April Fools Day. One of Lee Iacocca's managers negotiating a settlement with banks to save Chrysler was able to get some people going by saying that Chrysler declared bankruptcy in 1980 (and he mentioned the date at the end of the joke).

I would guess that the AutismSpeaks corp. went after that website because it more or less had malicious intent (in their view) and it was masquerading as AutismSpeaks itself. I believe their concern was over people mistaking that parody website for the real AutismSpeaks website. Today's prank appears on the Wrong Planet website - and it's April 1. It is clearly a joke.

Your concern is admirable, but if Alex were to post "PRANK!! !" on that page, it would not be a prank. Don't worry, April Fool's jokes are common here and happen every year.

Good one. An inkling of me thought that it might be true, even though I was already aware that it is April Fool's; I guess that was just my possible AS deluding me.
