My sister's family does, but they're Italians. They could probably take off into the air like airplanes they use their hands/arms so much. I thought that waving your arms when speaking was a European thing.

I rarely move my hands when I talk.

Always have waved my arms alot. I have learned to control it due to years of ridicule, both bad and good natured. When I'm not too upset or "aroused" as they say, the movements are somewhat related to what I am saying. If I'm worked up, they are pretty random and can know things and people around.

This is really interesting. I have never thought about the wide range of features across the spectrum on this. Some folks are still as can be and others are explosions of motion!

I imagine I do. I've only become more "animated" with my body language over the years.

i never really was like that, with the exception of when i had a deaf fiancee, and then maybe for a few months after we split up. i used sign (duh) but also was more animated in non-signed conversation.

I started doing that about ten years ago because I learned it was a normal thing to do. (I learned a lot of non-verbal communication things through intentional study of such behavior.) I think the problem is that I don't know how to do it subtly. I either have my arms stiffly at my sides or I wave them around too wildly and sometimes knock things over.

No.

Well, I twirl them when I talk to professionals, so I guess that's moving them.

I do a lot, and it's usually very strange motion. I can be quite expressive at home, but I lack expressiveness in social situations.

I tend to use my arms a lot when I'm around people I'm fairly comfortable with. I also do it to compensate for when I'm struggling to verbalise my thoughts.

Sometimes yes, sometimes not at all, depends.

Something I do a lot when talking to people is cup my ears like my hearing sucks, it's always hard to get everything someone is saying so I try pretty hard to hear and concentrate on it. My hearing is fine I think, it is processing so I don't think cupping my ear actually helps that much but I think maybe the appearance is that I can't hear for **** and people understand that better. People don't really like it when you constantly respond in "huh?" and "what?" apparently.
