This subject would make an good poll. I would be interested to see how many Aspergians have degrees.

Just now I am working on my master's thesis in theology. But don't have the degree yet.

Quite a bit less than the general population (I forget the statistic, but I'm right).

(As a total aside, if someone were to call me "Aspergian" out there, I will kill him or her. I'm pretty close to "suicide bombing" Attwood's clinic with all of the "NT" and "aspie" drivel thrown around there; I think if I hear "autie", that may just send me down the path of creating Composition B.)

Associate's in Accounting
Bachelor's in English
Master's in Adult Education

I hated college but my alternative was to stay in extreme poverty, so I kept at it until I finished.

The master's was the worst since it required so many "discussion groups". I preferred lectures because I didn't have to say anything in class.

MSc in Geology, 1989. I was unable to go to a PhD because I didn't have enough support either from my family or from instructors, and didn't know how to get it from the university. Basically I was left to drift, so I drifted.

I did the masters partly because a professor said I needed a PhD to become a paleontologist, partly because I wasn't ready to leave school and needed to hide in classes for a while longer. After my MSc I did another BSc in psychology, living on student loans, until I hit the wall and couldn't do any more school (going back to undergrad after grad school was very difficult because of how much they tell you what to think as an undergrad).

I enjoyed doing the masters - there was a PhD student there who was my mentor - soomeone I could ask stupid questions of. And for the first time in my life I started learning how to really learn, instead of having to believe what I was told to believe without really knowing why. A good experience.

Doesn't Tony Attwood also claim that people with AS are more likely to have at least one college degree? I'm not putting a ton of weight in that, though, as I suspect socio-economic factors may play a role there.

I love school and independent study, so grad school does sound right for me. I'm just nervous about the other aspects of it--talking to professors, academic politics, going to conferences, etc.

I'm applying for grad school this January, to hopefully start in the fall of 09.
I'll get an MFA (masters of fine arts) in painting. I still haven't visited many schools yet, and if I apply and don't get in to the few I like, I may just wait and reapply next year rather than go to one that isn't a good fit for me. They are very very competitive, though, so we'll see.

nah, there's no good art programs around here. This was always the plan though, for me to start grad school after Alex finishes at George Mason. I hate moving and I love our house, but grad school is important to me. If I don't get in the first year I apply, maybe we'll stay. Who knows? I wish it was the time of my life where I could just pick one place to live and make that place perfect and stay there forever with no change!! !! !

I'm finishing up my master's in clinical psychology this August and will be starting a doctorate (Psy.D=doctor of psychology) this January.

I'm doing the Psy.D classes online as live interactive webcasts so I can avoid fluorescent lights and people, which is a dream. I'll already be working with people as a therapist with limited hours per day so as not to get to exhausted by them. I can handle seeing 3 a day maximum and need a day of rest in the middle of the week.

I have a Masters of Divinity degree. I had an interest in the church and ministry and wanted to check it out.
