I'm not NT but I'll try:
Human...as in 'like me'. It means 'maybe we're more alike than I thought'. If the tone is joking it means 'All right!" because they felt more connected to you.

There has to be a better way for people to express that feeling.

maybe we're closet Vulcans...;)

I have as much emotion as the next person, it's just expressing it that gets me in trouble...;)

Maybe it's just me, but I get annoyed when I see books/websites that say "Does your child or someone you know have autism?" as if someone who has it themselves doesn't exist and isn't going to see it

Maybe I just need to stop reading into things so much.

I have feelings although there were many times I wondered if I was not human and did not consider myself part of humanity.
Humanity is overrated anyway.

If you prick us, do we not bleed? if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not revenge?

...

Coin toss.

One of my "friends" in primary school said that at first she thought I was an alien.
A boy I knew in high school was talking about people and added the remark, "Not you, Rachel, you're not human".

I'm not sure I want to be human.

I am a very emotional person, I just have trouble expressing my feelings in a socially appropriate manner.

Reminds me of that scene from the movie elephant man where the crowd of people where mocking and laughing at him and he yells "I am not an animal.'' They thought because he didn't look like a normal human he wasn't human. Just like if we don't act like a normal human they think we are not human.

I've been called an unemotional monster many times.

I'm not sure about not being human, but I do think people think autism = ret*d, and Aspergers = mentally ill.

Before I knew about the AS I was on the receiving end of some cold unreasonable individuals. My perception was that they were not human because I couldn't understand how a person could be like that. I guess people can feel the same way about me when I do or say hurtful things unintentionally.

He does. He's not emotionless, he just had his antennae cut off at birth. He can't feel for people he doesn't know, and it takes far, far longer than a single glance at someone for him to know them.

Felinity, I LOVE your name! It's sooo cool..I love cats too:lol:

As to your question, if people are mean, is not because of what they think of you and how well you can take it; it's not in connection with you; it's because they're a_holes or ignorant and they're probably mean and/or ignorant to others who are not AS too.
take care!

***what's bad about not being very emotional and actually remaining cool in "hot" situations? That's a quality to envy in others, not something to talk down. Maybe they envy you for how composed you seem.

I used to feel emotionless compared to everybody. Like, growing up in Elementary school, I wasn't as animated as all the other kids. (But now I'm on Abilify medication and I'm a lot more lively.)

And still, sometimes I feel bland. I guess that's why people never took the time to understand me.

I feel it's unfair in a way. A social disadvantage.

I've had people say similar things to me. Given the human capacity for cruelty, I think being human is sometimes overrated.
