I type fairly quickly when I am relaxed. My typing speed in test situations is somewhat slower, but I still manage between 40-50 w.p.m. My fastest typing speed in a test situation was 53 w.p.m.

I use those keys like crazy, I don't know how anyone can stand using the mouse to highlight things when shift works so much faster (especially when combined with ctrl and/or home/end/etc.). I'm completely obsessed with just about every other keyboard hotkey, as well...I even navigate Windows Explorer with it. Hitting backspace is so much faster than moving the mouse up to the "cd.." button.

I just wish Internet Explorer was more keyboard friendly ¬_¬

I use the Windows Shortcut keys like crazy too. I was referring to the home keys that they teach in typing classes to center your fingers on: asdf and jkl; - I only use my two index fingers and thumbs to type with so I do a lot of subconscious hunting and pecking lol.

There are times where I type fast and other times where I type slow. It ranges between 1 wpm to 60 wpm. On a test I got 35 wpm. I guess that is the average.

What about clicking too fast? I've always driven my mom crazy because I make the mouse go a million miles a minnute. She says it's just a matter of time before it breaks.

I type pretty fast even though I use mostly my index fingers and I have to look at the keyboard.

Oh yes, those =)

I use them, we had a typing class as a requirement in high school, so I got really good at touch typing.

I type at around 100 wpm, although I do make a lot of mistakes. Nearly always the errors involve transposing letters (ex. "sta" instead of "sat") rather substituting or omitting them. Interestingly though, I make far fewer mistakes when I am composing than when I am copying material.
