I only rock when I'm in the middle of a severe depressive attack.

Whoo Hoo my fave thing to do! :D
I love to rock or spin (like now my hubby has this big office type of computer chair so i love to spin from side to side with it as im on the PC) I like the way it feels and i also notice how much better i focus when i spin or rock myself...its like all of a sudden my brain just clicks on..does anyone ever rock while in the shower?? I noticed myself doing that it felt good because the water moved with me in a way and it felt very soothing..

I used to do it a lot in high school but I stopped myself by the time I graduated.

The one thing I do the most these days is pace. Though usually when alone.

I love the feeling of swivel chairs too! It's like rocking but better, because it glides you back and forth and feels very soothing to me.. :D

Sometimes I rock when I'm anxious and it helps take my mind off it. But I also enjoy rocking to my music, among other stims I do when I listen to it.

I rock side to side when sitting sometimes. I don't think it's calming me or anything, it's more of a self-stimulation in boredom and if there's too little (sensory) input.

On a side note, I saw so many non-autistic people rock back and forth really noticeable already. Even if they do it in public, they and any observers don't seem to notice. Or don't seem to think it is odd. That is surprising me still. I wonder why it's sometimes appropriate?

This is one stereotypical stim that I rarely do...I seem to recall stopping it when I was little because it hurt my wrists.

I have always rocked. My rocking isn't violent but just a smooth back and forth motion. In public, in private, it doesn't matter, I don't even notice that I've been rocking until I catch myself.
