Wierd. I figured to score high on this test, as I always consider myself somewhat observant. Then again, half these faces looked forced in the first place. They should have had 3 options for intensity, as there'd be less room for mistake, too many options and you really gotta think there...

One thing I don't get. How can you rate the intensity of a neutral expression?

I don't see how you can have different degrees of neutrality. Neutral is neutral to me. If there was some subtle emotion other than neutral I picked that emotion rather than neutral.

'Twas wondering the same thing!
I put 50 on all the neutral faces, made sense to me. I mean, how could one be overly neutral, or just barely? :?

Another problem with the intensity rating is that the scale is subjective. I had a problem where I picked one as 100% fear and then later there was an even more fearful face (actually looked like she was getting probed by an extraterrestrial ) . How was I supposed to know what the scale represents exactly without prior reference?

LOL. I guess they don't account for the aspie way of thinking.

If they had an angry option, I think most of those "neutral" faces I put in would be counted as angered.

Another thing, if I thought long and hard enough, I probably would have achieved a higher score, I'm sure it's the same for a lot of others. But really, is there much time at all to ascertain the different "moods" of a person in real life as opposed to this test taken in a relaxed setting? I don't think so... I think in a relaxed non-threatening setting, such as this test, there is no problem, gather a group of people, and start the "conversing" or whatever, and to me it's a different story.

Aurore, you did it better than me

You identified 14 emotions correctly out of 20.
If you scored between 0 and 8 you may have problems identifying emotions in facial expressions.
If you scored between 9 and 14 you can identify emotions correctly some of the time, but may have problems recognising emotions in more subtle facial expressions.
If you scored 15 or more you can usually identify emotions correctly.
Of the 14 emotions you identified correctly, you selected the correct intensity for 4 of them.

In relation to depression...
Depressed people are more likely to perceive neutral faces as sad than happy, and are less likely to identify mildly happy faces as happy, only recognising the emotion when it is less ambiguous. Their depression appears to bias their perception towards negative emotions. They may also be impaired in identifying other more subtle emotions

Those faces, there's something wrong with them, they're not right somehow. I'm so glad I didn't do this just before going to bed.

The whole sequence was sort of creepy like that silent dream scene in Wild Strawberries.
