Why do people insist on using derogatory terms like "African-American" to refer to black people? Why not "Black-American"?
how is African-American derogatory? Besides, I use both African-american and Black interchangeably

I had an African-American teacher who was a white guy who immigrated to the US from South Africa. Doesn't the adjective "African" imply that was their birth place?
they're called White Africans, or Affrikans IIRC

If we allow our ancestors birth place to be part of the definition, then wouldn't everyone be an "African-American" because scientists say that all human life had its origins in Africa?
no; because the caucasians immigrated from Europe, so they're called European Americans. Same for Asians and the like

I mean its nuts. I've even heard people in Europe referring to black people in their own country as "African-Americans". It makes no sense whatsoever.
yeah I saw that in the UK I think, some news clip on youtube or something

I think its time that the disrespectful term "African-American" be flushed and replaced with a more respectful term like "Black-American".
PS: Sorry for the hijack, its a sensitive subject with me.
What about n***a? That's a cool term
*puts on flame shield lulz*
