WAIT A SECOND!! !! ! You didn't know you flapped?!?!?!? OK, that is SCARY! I mean I started moving side to side in a CVS(drug) store, because my leg was turned around! I was SHOCKED! I never really thought about this until I heard about stims in AS, and now I catch myself sometimes. I have to wonder what else I do!
As for the white lie deal, YIKES! What if you are called on it!?!?!?
No I didn't know I flapped. Or finger flicked. Or lined things up...or anything like that! All of these things were pointed out AFTER I met people who knew what ASD was! I was the first born child and my parents thought I was normal - that's why they think my daughter is normal...she's just like me as a child. People always thought I was wierd/odd/a freak etc.
I catch myself beforeI flap most of the time now. But I finger flick a lot more. I use rough paper and run my figners across it (often until they blister/bleed) when I am really stressed and in public because it's less noticeable than anything else I do.
I don't know what you do if you get caught lying. I assume they would then tell the truth. But a friend of mine lies more to cover his lies...it's most amusing.
