Excellent! I must admit, Wrong Planet is by far one of the best sites I have seen for social networking and general information about autism and Aspergers

I took a look at their new network and a bit disappointed, though not surprised that they have no group for autistic individuals...

It further shows how they seem to think they speak for autism, but not let the people with autism speak up about their concerns on the AS website....

I wish the agency would allow autistic people to speak up for themselves and express their concerns, but I guess that would be too easy... I can dream anyway...

What is social networking? I'm sorry I don't understand what that really means. It's probably something obvious like, here we all are talking, right?

I have never bothered participating in Autism Speaks and from the sounds of it I am glad. But you are saying that WP will become similar to MySpace? That would be great :)

Autism Speaks forum is to close at the end of the month. The forum, which has become a battle-ground for pro and anti-cure groups has become unmanageble, with repeated flame-wars, and numerous postings advertising supposed new treatments and cures. Most recently a formal complaint was made to the University of Kentucky about the promotion on the forum of a new and untested chelation "food suppliment", created by their researchers as an industrial decontaminent.

All's well that ends well.

I just found a button that allows you to create your own network.
What do you think about creating one "Autistic Individuals Speaking for Autism"

Or should I name it:
What Autism Really is Like from those that Are Autistic

Any takers on the idea?

Talk of curing autism is strictly hypothetical anyway, or involves quackery that doesn't really do anything.

I've always thought that. It's a neurological problem that people are born with. It's not going to go away when they get given a pill or something.
