I looked a maps all the time when I learned how to read them in 4th grade. I would look at atlases and look at the towns and roads. When my family did the big summer trip in 1996, I would look at the road atlas and keep track where we were going and what towns we were going to pass by or go through.

Lol i have another one! Energy drinks!

I have to buy every single new one i see. Sometimes i even drink like 3-4 per day. Some days at work i can be the most miserable person, then when i get my energy drink, im happy as a clam, just like people and their coffee so it might not really fit in this category. Mind u i have bought 3 new ones at once, and its nothing new for me to go in and buy 20$ worth of drinks to stock up. Theyre just really good.

My childhood obsessions, in order:

1. Dinosaurs
2. Balto (the animated movie)
3. Wolves
4. Cats
5. Anime

... It's been nothing but anime ever since, though the series I become obsessed with change every couple of years.

When i was about 4 i became absolutely obsessed with Barney the dinosaur, i am now 15 and still like it (please don't tease me because of it). My favourite barney video was always Barney live in new york city, i used to watch it everyday, about 7 times everyday for a few months, when i wasn't at school. I still watch it, i used to know all of the words to it now i am aware it's not really normal to do so so i just watch it instead.

After that, when i was about 9 i became obsessed with skateboards. I actually had a friend at the time with AS, he also shared that obsession with me.

When i then started secondary school i became with birthdates. I asked everyone i could find in my school and asked them what there birthday was. I still remember everyone of them. I am becoming less obsessed with things as i get older, which alot of people say is good.

When I was about 5, I grew this massive obsession with Butterflies.
If I found something with a Butterfly on it, it had to be mine.
Everyone around me thought it was weird because Butterflies are 'girly'.

I still like Butterflies now, but I don't collect anything with them on it.

When I was around 10 I then grew an obsession with Motorbikes.
I'm still heavily into Motorbikes, currently. I don't think it will change. :D

I used to want to be Ben Franklin. I had to do a report on someone famous in 4th grade and he happened to be the person the middle school librarian directed me to. After that I checked out, and read, every single book the middle school had on him. I was really annoyed when I got to 5th grade - the year you had to invent something for the science fair, and rather than invent something we ended up having to "develop" a colony on the moon. it didn't occur to me that I could invent something without the science fair as my excuse for doing so

Oh gosh, lets see if I can remember them. Well Cabbage Patch Kids was one and I bored my poor family to death by talking about it all of the time. Then there was a point I was obsessed with the Greek alphabet, and another point it was the polar regions... I can't remember anything else. But that was more than enough for anyone who I came into contact with to handle :)

I was obsessed with ants....I spent hours watching ants, digging up ant hills, putting different ants on different ant hills to see what would happen. I liked the black ants as they seemed more peaceful. I also studied dog breeds and can still look at a mutt and acurately figure out what it is crossed with :P .
When I got older it was the Star Wars movies....then Raiders of The Lost Ark (saw it in the theater 35 times). I was also very obsessed with Rick Springfield to the point where I would refuse to go to school so I could watch General Hospital. I really wanted him to be my doctor. I still think, strangely enough, that this is why I developed an obsession for the medical field. After that I moved on to Duran Duran and they were my whole life from age 14 to 18. I still keep tabs on them and I even moved to California partly because John Taylor (bassist) lives here. Thats a good thing though because I never would have met my husband if I still lived in Illinois (yuck).
I still like ants too :D .

I had lots of interests, ranging from arranging collections (Noddy books, Little Golden books, marbles, and many others), talking about same, sometimes extending to an attachment with either a collection or single object (where I would refuse to be parted with the object or collection, even taking it to bed with me at times), through to subject orientated fixations/interests (like a couple of Jean Plaidy kid's books and the events/persons depicted).

I also had fixated patterns of activity (like one summer endlessly and aimlessly raking a garden patch on our property that had not had anything grown in it for years, I did for hours every afternoon and all day most weekends; I just liked the movement and the look of the dirt, or tracing and then colouring in a copy of the same book cover many times over, for hours on end, every evening for months on end).

In high school my one teacher said his wife had 6 cabbage patch dolls in the attic - they were planning on selling them to put their kids through college. Guess they held on to them too long for that though

They are hardly worth anything today. I still have mine somewhere in the basement :D Actually maybe tomorrow I should look for them, clean them up and give them to my daughter.

My earliest childhood obsessions (from ages 18 months to 4 years) were:
-Glasses
-Road signs
-Garfield
-Pink Panther
-Amusement park height/safety restrictions
-Pregnancy/obstetrics

I didn't have a lot of "special interests" from ages 5-11. Most of my "special interests" during that period were collections, not things of a topical nature. However, beginning at age 11 1/2, I got back into topical obsessions, when I became obsessed with roller coasters.

I was obsessed with collecting horsechestnuts--- buckets and buckets of them. It went on for 3 autumns or so--- the squirrels musta hated me. I'd sort them according to size, shape, color, unique identifying marks, etc. My mom ended up throwing them out each year, which I hated.
I also enjoyed animals, especially fish.
These were as a younger child--- I've had other ones as a teenager and still have some now.

My squirrels loved me - there was a whole in the bottom of the acorn tree where they piled their acorns. So I'd gather up acorns and stuff them in the whole for them

its kind of amazing the squirrels were able to live in a tree just maybe 20 feet from the house considering we typically had 6 indoor/outdoor cats and some made a practice of sitting at that whole waiting for the squirrels
