i would prob stare at you for awhile, and then come up and demand to know why you were wearing that shirt.

then i would stare some more, gage your reaction, and try to figure out if i liked you. hopefully you would be interesting.

if you were not, then i would be a little annoyed that you had on the shirt, because hey, i don't want you to give aspies a bad name, but i DID approve of your shirt-wearing schedule and the thought that went into it, so i would probably approve you, and be excited to meet a real-live aspie.

I would absolutely approach someone with an AS T-shirt. No question about it.

I wonder if an NT person would wear a similar shirt to see if they could get away with stuff?

It would depend on if I had a reason to approach them. I generally don't approach anyone without a reason.

If I do approach you, you can expect one of two things - either an extremely short list of direct questions or extremely long (probably boring to you) discussion about one of my special interest topics.

I am usually wary of most people because they are unpredictable and possibly dangerous. However I would observe such a person carefully and if I like what I see, I might approach them. I am appallingly bad at initiating social contact but I am improving, slowly.

I would be more comfortable at an aspie social group or support group.

Yes indeed! I haven't seen any Aspies where I live so it'd be a relief to meet someone else who also has the condition!

How about a tag that says "Hello, I have Asperger's Syndrome, so don't be mean to me, please?"

I would wear that.

I love your posts celtic frost. That one just made me laugh.

Since I don't want to be shy, I might approach someone with that shirt on and ask them if they are an indvidual with it or if they know someone with it.

I would definitely approach someone who wears such a shirt. It's interesting to see what the OP did about his plan, and if he did what he wanted to do, how it worked out. It's too bad that he might not post in this topic again.

There are pros and cons to coming out with your condition. I think it depends on how you choose to come out. Telling everyone is not a good idea, for sure. Wearing something subtle on a t-shirt is probably better than just the obvious "Asperger's". I have this t-shirt: http://www.cafepress.com/+dark_tshirt,116354338
Most people don't know what it means, I think. I don't wear it to school, except for one time last year for only one period. When I wore it, I've overheard one of my classmates say, "Oh, so that's why she's always like that!". But I don't think most people knew/noticed/cared.
However, I don't feel comfortable wearing it to school for now until I get diagnosed.

I might say, like, "nice shirt" or something, but probably not. I'd probably just lurk around you and watch you and maybe smile at you and hope you said something to me, but I'd most likely never say anything to you. XD;;;;

And I'd never wear a shirt like that myself. (For the same reasons a couple other people have mentioned.)

I'd have no problem approaching somebody with that tshirt on. As long as they don't look like they're planning to use a weapon! I accidently pressed "no" on the poll and i'm a bit frustrated about that and also confused...I couldve sworn that the middle button said Yes. They tricked me! (just kidding). Yeah when I heard of aspergers syndrome and looked it up on the net, I don't think got good information on it compared to when I went to the library and got a book. Getting a book on it is better. I heard somebody ask what Aspergers was once and I heard somebody say look it up and I said "Do NOT look it up on the web..." (and etc).

Depends on what the t shirt says.

"I am an aspie and friendly" would have different effect from "I am an aspie, and don't like people".

My friend used to go about with a t shirt that said on the front "F*ck off and die",
and on the back "and that means you". You can see why I wouldn't see it as an invitation to stop and chat.

I wouldn't wear one myself since I'm sectretive about it IRL. But if I saw someone wearing an AS themed tshirt I would approach them, I'd probably go up to them and go "ditto " or something.
I nearly bought one ages ago that had the "pi" of the word aspie replaced with the pi sympol. It turned out I didn't use the right card to pay for it and I'm glad now because I wouldn't of dared wear it anyway, would have been a total waste of money.

In Singapore, if I see someone with a white T-shirt that simply states 'I support people with AS' and jeans that fit with Nike sneakers...

"Where did you get this T-shirt from? I'd love to have it. It's really fashionable!"
