It would be good to have some answers about it. In my case, it wasn't the result of abuse because my siblings were in the same environment and they didn't experience it that way at all. So I can assume it's another trait of autism. It very much ties in with the whole experience of being autistic. I just don't understand the machanics of it, if that's possible, but would very much like to be able to better understand what's at work there.

I truly feel at times the only way we will really get to understand ourselves is communicating with other people on the autism spectrum, many of us have spent a life time learning to do things the NT way... being diagnosed late in life has at last given me a great sense of being, but everyday I still discover new things and the interesting part is no one knows all the answers for our differences, but those of us on the autism spectrum seem to have a much better insight...

Yes, Alyson! I checked your site and read the interviews. Excellent. I prefer your interview with Donna Williams than the American Chronicle story.

Thanks for that, maybe its because being on the spectrum myself, know what to ask!

Just wondering...there does seem to be a lot of Australians dx with AS and Autism. Is the rate of AS/Autism higher there than in other parts of the world, or is it just that Aussies are more talkative? :chin:

How and if you get diagnosed depends where in the world you live, I feel its no higher in Australians than anywhere else in the world... but just maybe places like Australia where they sent many people years ago, especially often if had any difference... could of had a longer term impact!
I do not feel there will ever be world wide statistic, with some countries still hiding children with any difference... but I do think a lot bigger percentage of the population has, and with more understanding, awarenesses and all the neuro differences beginning to become part or overlapping into the spectrum maybe the total even as many as 20%, but just my thoughts...

Thanks. This is going in my bookmarks along with the interviews.

Though, I can very competitive or not very competitive... I guess it depends. As a general rule I hate having to compete for things. It creates a lot of stress, unless it's something I can easily be at the top... But even that can have its own stress...
