My birthday was exactly a month ago and I am satisfied with just going out for dinner with some friends, and that is what I did and it was fine. I don't usually have people over at my home except for a few sometimes. I am fine if I am out to dinner with like 20 other people but I am not all that crazy about going to houses with a bunch of people there. And I used to sell chocolate.. one time I was brave enough to have a home party and 10 women came.. I was SO overwhelmed with it.. and made a vow to never have a home party again... I am usually okay in most social situations but I still have my limits... and some b**** had the nerve to say that my party sucked!! ! Gosh, only if she knew!

Are aspies destined to birthday by themselves or have there parents throw pity parties with people they call up for them?

Well let's see, my birthday was last Saturday and I spent the entire day alone. My family and all my friends were occupied elsewhere...not even any of my internet friends were around to chat with. The fact I haven't blown my head off by now amazes even me.

I sit at home by myself..., perfectly happy. I like those I love to be around me, but I always do, no matter the day in question.

I hate parties.

Birthdays are a sore spot because the parent would have wished he/she was never born.

If you know this person well, take the time to let him know he's appreciated, don't let him get the feeling that he's unwanted/unknown/w-e. If he's got no friends, the obvious choice is to become his friend.

I generally spend my birthday with my parents. It's not like I have many real-life friends to spend it with.

I don't think I'd ever have a birthday party. I don't like parties much. If I had any close friends I'd invite them to dinner to celebrate.

Really my birthday is just an excuse for my parents to give me some money and take me out for a nice dinner.

I haven't had party's since mum stopped trying to force them on me. I used to dislike them as i was shy and didn't know the people well often.

Since i got a choice in the matter Ive never had a party haven't even been 2 any :P only small scale ones with friends no more than 4 people usually :P. This year my girl friend was at my birthday but she had been staying for 3 months including her birthday although she had a party with family and close friends when she got home :).

I have not celebrated a birthday in the past few years. I still keep count, but there is no celebration.

I spend all my birthdays by myself, always have since I've been an adult. I don't understand why it's even an issue.

well let me tell you why its an issue

every single NT ive seen throws huge birthday parties HUGE, at work after parties they go out an have big things going on

i feel like i and my aspie friends do not exist at the same level as NT's and are thrown into the wasteland as not being able to have a normal NT birthday party an be respected and have as much funa s them

Who needs a party to be happy? If he doesn't like or want a party why pressure him? (not that anyone is...) I have always thought that NTs seem to think that we should do what THEY do in order to be happy, but I am much happier by myself with some J-rock (Shina Ringo is cool), a packet of Glacier mints, a computer and drawing equipment than dancing around, eating fatty food and trying to act 'normal'. I just don't find that fun at all.

Yes, I am sure. Having AS doesn't mean you can't enjoy other peoples' existence. It just means I have very eccentric and accepting friends.

Yes, thats true. Or you can just be under the spectrum and enjoy the company of others. Like I said I have no problem with social events. I just will never have a home party again.... unless its a small get together of 3 or 4 people tops (and I am not crazy about home parties, with large amounts of people either... but if I were to meet a friend at a restaurant or down in the city, I and he or she wanted to bring 10 friends along.. then no problem!).
