Autistic vs Autistic
You must be an NT because you did not READ the post. I spoke to the thing twice. I was certainly not going to touch it. Human young are teeming with microbes. God only knows what sort of diseases it was carrying. Also, typically NT, you expect me to magically "know" it somehow couldn't follow simple commands. If it was unable to do so, it shouldn't have been permitted to be running amok like a rabid coyote. The parents should have had it leashed. I am autistic, I have never screeched. I hate noise.
Am I to assume from your wording that you would have been equally irresponsible in allowing a destructive, violent creature to run about, and then yourself assaulted me? I see where the thing would have seen the violent behavior modeled. For its own safety and well-being, it would, of course, need to be immediately removed from such a harmful home environment by Children's Protective Services. Your intolerance for others that have different forms of autism is atrocious.
I read your post, and while I'm not 100% sure that I'm AS, I'm fairly certain. Besides, what does that have to do with anything? NT=stupid, because they can't read?
So, now everyone who has autism has to be exactly like you to qualify as having an autistic behavior? Just because you never screeched doesn't mean that no other autistics do. It's quite common.
I never, ever, ever let my children run around in public. Nor, would I have assaulted you. Please show me in my post where I had said such a thing? Nor, do I need CPS to remove my child from my home. Personally attacking my parenting, when you know nothing about my parenting is uncalled for.
If you don't have a professional diagnosis, your suspicions regarding one are irrelevant.
Interesting leap to defensiveness and false conclusions. I didn't say that you can't read - I said that you didn't read. Thus, once again proving that you didn't read it. Perhaps you are right, however - your persistent errors make me begin to suspect that your reading comprehension is lacking.
It's also interesting how you draw the truly bizarre conclusion that I must believe that everyone who has autism has to be exactly like me. I made no such assertion. Non sequitur.
I asked the question, "Am I to assume from your wording that you would have been equally irresponsible in allowing a destructive, violent creature to run about, and then yourself assaulted me?" This is an interrogative - note the question mark. I asked this question based on your statement, "God help you if that had been my son." I interpreted this statement as a threat, and inquired if this interpretation was correct. As an autistic, I have no way of knowing if my interpretation is correct, you see, so I must ask. Hence the question. I am certain you will deny it, but it is reasonable to interpret that particular statement as a threat. Do you often threaten strangers?
You are quite argumentative, with no basis, apparently simply because you disapprove of my actions. I suggest you deal with your own emotional reaction to this issue before you make any more errors in logic. Your attempt to debate is quite nonsensical. Argumentative people are poor parents because they model poor behaviors for their children. People who threaten people are poor parents. People who threaten strangers are poor parents. Your child is probably fortunate it's still alive. Now go deal with your own issues. Definitely see a mental health professional. You definitely need at least one DSM diagnosis.
You threw rocks at a kid?? Do you like people throwing rocks at you? What if a rock would hit your head, eye, whatever? Did you think on what you did? Because it certainly doesn't seem like that. Nobody cares if you aimed besides. The very intent of your action was plain horrible and wrong.
The behaviour;
I dare to say that as a parent or teacher of that child I probably would not have accepted or respected your argumentation.
Autism is diversity.
There's nothing unusual if an autistic kid would be quite loud, scream or shriek.
Just as this parent may have been wary if you and your autism, of course we cannot know whether this behaviour of the girl was due to her autism or if the child was misbehaving.
But there are autistic kids that display such behaviour because of their autism.
Perfectly normal - just autistic.
A patient parent seeing how that father did not snap at you or call the police.
If your issue was with the kids throwing rocks at the birds, you could have tried to figure out why she was doing it, talking to the parent, think about what you know about ASDs and then try to approach the issue together with the father.
Anyway, the attitude you displayed, I have no words for that.
About the 'thing'... How do you feel about people calling you a thing? Are you a thing too? I doubt it, why would you be a thing? You're a person of course. Then why is that kid a thing to you?
Just talking of that child as a 'creature' or 'beast' or 'thing' as well as shows, whether intended or not I don't know, an utter lack of respect for that autistic person and every other person, child or adult.
dont say trying to work out sinds that could only have 0.001%chance to even work a little bit thats what NTs always say "get help" "talk it out" "take drugs taht make you braindead"
but have you tought about the fact that the father "allowd it" like the guy would allow it if some crazy women comes oujt of a dark corner and telling him hes daughter is killing ducks he probbely woulnd even care
its like trying to tell a murderer "i let you go if you promise not to kill anymore" <.< whe all woulnd know how whe would have react in that case think she whas forced to do something and its not like any rocks hit her think this whas a wrong behavior to but still i would have gonne mad to really a yelling kid who trows rocks at ducks wich is spoiled with a father who allows this?no thanks

They sound like are the kind of parents that don't give a damn obviously. As far as the rocks go, I don't know if I would have thought to do that... and I can certainly understand why you did it, to try teaching her a lesson (she still may not have gotten it though) but there was that risk of someone calling the cops about it. The first thing I would have done was try to find the parents and ask around, "excuse me, is this kid yours", they would have come around... then if they say "don't be hard on her, she is autistic".. then you tell them that not only are you autistic but its a spectrum disorder and tell them to become better educated about it before making silly judgments in the future. And by the way my son is also under the spectrum and only 4, he would NEVER do the things that she does. Maybe he is at the higher end than this girl is HOWEVER my husband and I have worked hard at teaching him right from wrong. Autism isn't obviously the only thing to be blamed as far as her behavior goes.

You probably don't know this but feeding bread to non domesticated ducks is not a good idea. I know you are only trying to be nice. Bread is not their usual food. The food they eat is as varied but generally leaner stuff then bread, and doesn't contain that much salt. If you continue feeding bread to ducks you are essentially domesticating them and they become less and les able to fly because they are too heavy.
I made the same mistake myself, but I've turned a leaf on that era. I do think it is funy how they can't chew and break up large chunks by shaking their head vigiously.
Uh, oh...what would be better? I don't want to hurt the duckies!
Thanks for letting me know!
well, then you control her behavior!
what is the difference between a spoiled autistic child who can't help its behavior and an unspoiled one who also can't help it?

No, it's not satire. Since the thing was behaving monstrously, I assumed it was an NT child since 99% of NT children and 100% of NT parents are EVIL. Teaching someone how it feels to be bullied is not wrong. It's the only way many NTs will learn. Most of them aren't very bright, which is why they do the things they do in the first place.
Finally, there is no evidence the thing was actually autistic, only the NT parent's word. As we all know, NTs constantly lie.
Okay, I admit a bit of exaggeration about the percentage estimates...but not much. I've been feeling quite put upon by NTs lately, and Evil NT Children just bring Childhood Flashbacks from Hell.
Thanks for letting me know!
Well it does depend on the duck. Some ducks will eat small fish. However even if they don't usually there is probalby no harm in giving them it, provided the bones are farily small and soft. They also pull the weeds off the bottom plus eat insects and gubs. I would say best bet is some grubs or insects.
The key is not to feed them too much so they don't become too dependent on handouts. Just throw some grubs on bank in view, see if they are interested. If not it doesn't matter.

Evil "NT" children come from evil "NT" parents that used to be bullies themselves back in the day.. nice to know the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. So I definitely understand where you are coming from..

Yes, I threw rocks at a kid. Demonstrating not wanting rocks thrown at oneself was the entire point of doing so! And no, I never cared for when all the vicious, EVIL, little NT vermin pelted me with rocks every single effin day of the last year of elementary and all of middle school for no reason whatsoever. But that's what those things do, which is why you have to train them like very, very stupid animals. "Throwing rocks bad. It hurts."
If a rock hit its head, that's what I was aiming for. It probably would have screeched louder. If I'd gotten it in the eye, then maybe it would've had a permanent reminder not to abuse animals. Either way, had I actually struck it, I'm certain I'd have been arrested. Bear in mind that I do have Executive Dysfunction. I'm happy for the rest of you that you could remain calm in the face of the thing behaving thusly, but this was something that makes me snap. There's no filter once that happens.
The intent of my actions were entirely correct. I tried twice to reason with it. I didn't just leap up and start slapping it around.
The father DID snap at me. For crying out loud, READ before you respond. If you had bothered to do so, you would have noticed that the thing was unattended. It could have easily tottered into the water and drowned. The lake is quite cold at this latitude - people die of hypothermia all the time. So either the parents weren't watching it, or didn't care that it abused animals. Reprehensible, either way.
Why would I try to figure out why it was doing that? Why does anyone do what they do? I have no idea what goes on in anyone else's head, nor do I have any interest in finding out, except in a very few cases. Also, you are making the same logical error the other person made, expecting me to have somehow divined in advance that this thing was (allegedly) autistic.
The thing is a thing because almost all children are things. They're evil. I hate them.
but have you tought about the fact that the father "allowd it" like the guy would allow it if some crazy women comes oujt of a dark corner and telling him hes daughter is killing ducks he probbely woulnd even care

But she is not a 'crazy woman', but one who had a certain demand to bring forward that she could formulate on paper or articulate fine.
Was there a dark corner? I don't know.
Did the girl kill ducks? No. She threw rocks at ducks.
Saying that she killed ducks would be a lie. And lies provoke people as most dislike being lied to.
Do we know how the father would have reacted? No, I do not, because I was not in that situation and have not seen it from both sides. I cannot know what the father thought and neither can any of us.
We can just expect. If we're optimistic, we expect something good and if we're pessimistic we expect something bad. But that's just our imagination running wild without sticking to reality.
You can at least write (if not talk too), from what I can see/read. Use that. Violence is not a resort.
I wouldn't notice anyone minding what a kid in my class is doing wrong in that person's view if that person didn't tell me. But if they told me politely, even if a bit angry already, I accept that.
I really really want to say: Dare. Talk if you perceive a problem with another person.
Don't think 'uh, it's not gonna work'. You can't know if you didn't try.
There are always situation in which I or you or anybody can actually gain something if you dare to try it.
To that why the kid threw rocks at ducks...
Maybe the child did not even understand that she was throwing rocks at ducks. Because to understand this, several things have to considered at the same time. For one, that a duck or any other living being can hurt. Another thing is to consider thata rock can hurt. And in the case of a duck, even injure badly or kill, because a rock is so solid and huge compared to that duck.
That's just a lot to consider.
It could be any reason why that girl threw rocks at ducks.
But there's the possibility of a reason that's caused by autism, too.
I cannot say because none of us knows the reason.
Just the girl knows.

This is an inaccurate quote. You are attributing to me what the father claimed of the child. In fact, you actually had to edit the line. Tsk. How disingenuous of you. I suggest you control your own behavior.

Articulating after the fact and in writing is quite different from doing so at the moment and verbally. I DO NOT talk to people I don't know. Autistic, remember? Communication deficits? Hello? I can write just fine. Conversations don't work well for me.
Well, it's been interesting people, but I must be going. Time to go to work, where my computer only expects me to program it, not talk to it, thank God.
She sounds like she was profoundly autistic and probably didn't realize what she was doing. The dad is definitely the one to blame here and I'm glad you confronted him. I just wish you didn't respond with trying to hurt her, since by doing it yourself you're just showing her that the stone-throwing behavior is something acceptable (she probably didn't understand the point you were making).

I do not teach children like animals. I do not have to do that to teach in a way that enables them to learn.
I also do not teach my pets by doing the same back at them.
I teach everyday to children that the idea of doing back what was done to them is wrong for I believe murdering a murder for murder is wrong.
If you are allowed to throw rocks at another living being, the child is allowed too. What you do and say is rightful and a must-be, each of us may do.
If you're really going to pin-point me on that detail, then I'll respond to that of course.
That's different from snapping. It doesn't say he snapped at you.
No, I didn't.
I said to talk to the father. He told you about her ASD after he noticed that you noticed the child. Then to offer your knowledge on autism (without even needing to name your source), if you actually want to change the behaviour and teach that an ASD does not mean attacking ducks is appropriate.
Of course you cannot just approach a child without first consulting the parents. Any good intend you might have have (if you didn't say you hated children), a parent might perceive as a threat if he/she does not know why a strange is suddenly interacting in any way with their child.
All our likes and dislikes are however not above the unalienable rights of people. That's the very point. You can want to throw rocks, imagine it, but you can't actually do it just because you consider that individual of a certain group (children) to not be a real person but a thing or something like only half-a-person.
Please refrain from 'hello'ing at me, I take that as blatant rudeness because it implies that I do not pay attention to your person.
I did not say talking is necessary. Else I could not see why I wrote that of course applies to every autistic person or any other non-autistic person
If you absolutely cannot make yourself understood by yourself, you should consider how to make yourself understood in any way in case something happens to you. Or in case the police tries to give you trouble because they insist that you must converse with them and do not want to accept that you are autistic.
Would you husband who accompanied you helped you any/is he able to?
Just because you cannot talk to strangers, in my country throwing rocks at living beings with full awareness of what you are doing is not allowed either.

I don't find the child's behavior disturbing I find the father's lack of control over her to be both horrifying and unacceptable. He should have done something those ducks are more like pets if they will come right up to you.
While I agree with everyone that you shouldn't have thrown rocks, I can definitely understand the temptation to do something drastic. Next time throw rocks at the father maybe you will knock some sense into this thick head ![]()

To be blunt, I think you're the monster here, not the child. Throwing rocks at a little girl and swearing at her? Autistic or not, many children do stupid things, and I haven't met a kid who doesn't love to run and scare away birds. Your attitude towards children and your apparent hatred towards anyone who isn't autistic are very upsetting to me. I feel sorry for you.
