Wonder why they diagnosed you with AS in the first place? Do you have subclinical Aspie tendencies? (Many 'geeks', eccentrics, and artsy or scholarly types do, so it's not unusual... maybe they mistook that for actual AS?)

Anyway, yes--correct diagnosis=good. But now you are going to have to face a completely different sort of prejudice, namely the patronizing sort of "did you take your medication today" that people with mental illnesses get so often... Don't listen to it; you're not at fault for having what you've got, and your feelings are real and important, not something people can feel free to ignore just because you have a psychiatric diagnosis. The most uncomfortable part of the whole thing is that eventually you run across somebody who is literally afraid of you, because they think you will be violent and hurt them. Lots of misinformation out there--especially when there is psychosis involved. Hang in there... bigots will always exist, but their opinions don't say a thing about your value.
