yeah, me too. i just can't get any weight. my problem is that i don't like eating. i prefere the feeling of starving to being full. the food i keep, constantly gets spoiled.

Hmm, could be indirect aggression towards yourself. Maybe good idea to bring it up to a psychologist eating and becoming full is a standard part of survival. Constantly starving oneself tremendously shortens ones lifespan.

Shopping List of Food Issues topic

I have many food rules I made because of cost and weight issues. Since i am the cook/food buyer in my home, these are my rules:

A much as possible, buy ingredients and cook from scratch. Tastes better and you make only what you need. Because it tastes better, less will be wasted. :)

Only take on your plate what you will eat. Avoid in between snacks (unless important to a medical condition, such as Diabetes. People really eat more than they need to, and my caloric intake is no more than 1700 calories per day.) If eating out, only buy what you will eat. I do not buy the meal deal because I would rather not waste food or money. I prefer water with my meals, and soda is wasted calories and high cost. I have found that restaurants do not care if you waste your food, as long as you pay for what you have ordered. Try bringing a doggy bag!

I have seen what food people waste, and to me it is almost a crime, including what supermarkets regularly trash. 8O This has got to stop. Food prices are almost certain not to go down, what with the cost of personal vehicle, heating and plane fuel. Why throw money away?

My parents grew up during the Depression in the Dirty Thirties, and what ever else they did not do to help me, I learned the value of food and its hidden costs. I hope to pass this knowledge onto my own kids, but I know it is a hard lesson to learn as many of us cannot SEE it, whether Autistic or NT.

My food conserving rules are not only good for the family/individual, but good for the environment and include gardens, co-ops and bulk foods.

It works, so I do it. 8)

I'll stop eating if I feel too full to go on, sometimes even if I've eaten less than half the contents on the plate! (But that doesn't happen a lot :) )

I never feel like I have to eat everything I get.

Interesting to see so many people having this same problem...I never really gave it much thought.

I always eat everything offered to me...it's especially hard at parties when there's so much good stuff to choose from. I even have trouble throwing away stuff I don't like...I try to give it away, but if nobody wants it, I reluctantly toss it.

Being taught as a kid that it's rude to not finnish your plate often causes this situation. If i have too big portions to cook i often threw them away in the past because i'd be too focussed on finnishing the meal that i ate til my stomach hurt badly. I'm slowly getting this out of my system and accepting the fact that i leave food on the plate. Because if you always keep eating after your full you have to go through the trouble of dietting later on to get rid of the weight.

Not at all. In fact, I'm very picky about what I'll eat. This sometimes hurts my sister's feelings, because every other night she cooks something I don't like. My mom isn't bothered by it, though.

I look at it like this. I eat everything on my plate whether more than I can handle or not, then when I'm in periods of desperation/no money I will live longer having more fat stored to burn off(im not fat). :)

well, although i prefer starving to being full, i also prefer something in between to starving. being constatnly a little hungry is even healthy i've heard.

i see that becoming full is a part of survival, because in past it was very important, but we are not in those times anymore. the evolution is a little behind to realize that that instinct is useless now, but that does not mean that it's bad not have it.

I don't have the problem that badly...it's only at parties and things, or just general gatherings where there's food/snacks sitting on the table. If I'm at home, I'll just fix myself one sandwich and maybe pour a handful of chips on my plate, and I'm fine. I put snacks and stuff back in the cupboard after I'm done. Out of sight, out of mind, as they say. Or if we're eating out, I'll just get something cheap/small, and share if need be.
