Yup, Pitch black and total silence. Anything else will keep me awake no matter how tired I am. I've slept during the day one time that I can remember, and in that case I had been awake for something like 55 hours and I still had to cover my eyes to get to sleep for 3 hours.

Nope. I would have to close all the windows, blinds, etc., and I wouldn't see anything at all in the morning (and I wouldn't appreciate that).

But I positively have to sleep in a quiet enough room, with as few random and/or unknown noises as possible (snoring doesn't usually count). If I so much as imagine I'm hearing a mosquito (or any other d@mn flying thing at all), hollering in the street, bed creaking noises of any cause (yes, including the ones some of you might be thinking of), water dripping or neighboring TV sets at full volume, I freak big time.

As dark as possible. I hate having any lights and have to shield the computer router lights as well as my alarm clock. I also have to sleep with earplugs as noise will cause me to sleep poorly.

I find that the noise issue is very important as well. I need to have a certain level of quiet at night. When I'm napping it seems not to matter as much.

No.

There's my alarm clock (red LED numbers - blue ones keep me up), the little lights on my cable modem and router, light from the street outside, and sometimes daylight.

I always sleep with my bedroom light on. If I'm forced to turn off the lights, it must be absolute and complete darkness.

I wish I could sleep in pitch black, but I live in a heavily urbanized area, so not only can I see my neighbors lights on, I can also hear their arguments and their television, which one of my neighbors often keeps on all night.

Simple answer is yes. I have these wonderful blackout curtains that make my bedroom completely dark at night. I can't have it any other way. If the light is on in the hallway outside my bedroom door than it deeply, deeply irritates me.

I sleep in pitch black. There's no reason for me to get out of bed, if I can't see anything.

It's also difficult for me to fall asleep if it's not dark enough.

I have stickers on every led I can't switch off. Hi-fi, computer, clock... Please if you ever design an electronic device, don't make that led mandatory.

I'd like to have pitch darkness but I can always see a little even in a very, very dark room. Faint outlines of furniture, the wall etc.

Pitch darkness while sleeping is best for your health.

Any amount of light decreases production of melatonin by the pineal gland. Not only does melatonin aid deep sleep, but it has anti-aging and anti-cancer properties.

And yes, I too prefer total darkness, and have every source of light in my bedroom blocked, including LED's.

I use to be afraid of sleeping in the dark; I needed a nightlight until I was about 14. Don't know what it was; I was afraid of the dark. But now I like to sleep in the dark. :D
