Amsterdam sounds like my kind of place. My weirdness would fit right in there but I bet the dutch are really sick of foreigners.

I don't live in a place where a half million is a small amount-

150, 000 is too much. 30,000 resting next to 150,000 is too much like 150,000. 30,000 with a buffer zone of empty land would be just right.

Maybe you should apply to the states on student visa? Then you can pick and choose what atmosphere helps your mind. :wink:

160.000 people of which about 26600 are between 10 and 25;
and having been on 5 schools in this city I know many people - most of which dislike me. I often meet somebody who knows me when going out.

Drug laws liberal? Dunno about that: You'd better not have any tobacco mixed in with that pot! :wink:

My city is a very diverse place, so I don't really stand out. It's a smaller city and not really a town, either.

I live in an isolated town of about 8000 people, and everyone knows everyone else here :?
I only moved here a few years ago so I'm still learning how to deal with it.
But I don't have too much problems here because I am invisible to most, since I'm semi-new.

Well, I am in a large city, but still stand out quite well in the community. It's not because I look different. I look "normal". But it's obviously a city, despite its size, that is small enough to be a community. Even in the city centre I would certainly bump into someone I know, let alone anywhere in this general direction from it. If Edinburgh isn't big enough, and enough of a centre of attraction, to be anonymous, then nowhere in Scotland is big enough or a centre of attraction enough.

I suppose if I wanted to go out, and get away from people and constantly bumping into them, I'd either have to go to a suburb away from the centre/direction from city centre I live, or outside the city.

I live in a very famous small town, and because of our university here, people are so crazy and wierd. Our town is known for intellectual wierdos, it's famous for it, watch all the movies about it (and we have been the setting of a few movies, which by the way portray our town wierdly).

Nobody really notices me, nobody cares. Some people like my teachers(not from that university) treat me wierd, but whatever).
