I enjoyed it, and so did my bf. I can relate to Donald's aversion to eye-contact. Though I've always coped by wearing hats and sunglasses so I can look at the floor instead.
The only real issue I had was when Donald played the prank on Izzy by having her pet iguana crawl into her bed when she was in it. I was told iguanas have very sharp claws. In real life, she could have been scratched up pretty bad...right?

Actually I have more of a problem with people using animals to scare people, not because I care whether or not the person gets scared or scratched, but because I worry that the animal will get distressed or hurt by the squeeling fool. I refused to watch Fear Factor after seeing the kind of cruel things they put animals through just to get a reaction from people.

I'm super careful about who I let hold my lizard, because yes she does have pretty sharp little claws. I don't particularly care if she scratches someone as long as I warn them, but if someone flings her across the room in surprise, I don't know if I'd forgive them. Really, she's absolutely no different from holding a scared kitten. People just seem to treat animals with fur on them much more delicately.

Saw a clip on youtube; thought the direction and acting came from a place of not really understanding AS. Unnatural gestures, and every stereotype thrown in within a short segment. All the characters seemed completely lost and clueless too -everything appeared dire. I don't think that is accurate; some of us are quite clever and with it, even if in a different way. It seems like it might show some variety, but with a lot of bias towards a certain "image."

It reminds me of the dinosaur movies when I was young. Every dinosaur under the sun happened to be in the same spot doing all their obvious dinosaur things at the same time (t-rex eating everthing, pleisiasourus' bopping up and down in the water, and so on). Disappointingly hollywood.

Then again, I only saw a clip.

I watched a few clips and had the same impression about it. Another reason I didn't bother finishing "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night". It felt contrived, like it had to cram every possible stereo type in every single line. Otherwise, if I didn't identify with an autism label, I might have liked it not having known any better.

I liked it, and can't understand why people say it's exaggerated or overdone either. The amusing thing being a lot of people say it's overdone, and others say it doesn't show enough that they're autistic. *headdesk*

Gregory {John Lynch} is an obvious Aspie
because of his constant note-taking during his scenes in the movie.

Did anyone notice this?
